I'd really like to try Mornin Delight, and Assassin. Does anyone have any examples of trades that have gotten done.

Just keep in mind MD is 12oz and Assassin is 22oz. I initially thought both were 22oz but was informed that's not the case. I tried for it but couldn't work anything out with a laundry list of beers. Everyone wanted wales for the most part. Good ratings + low bottle count =instawhale. Still hoping to land a bottle but it's not looking good.

I believe both of these are over hyped by locals to create whales. I have not had either, and TG is pretty damn good, but Assassin should have never landed Mimosa (which it did).

10-4. I won't even try. No point. There's so much beer in my area to drink that is probably close to as good, I'm in no rush to trade off some of my biggest beers, that I want to drink, for some Iowa instaWhales. I didn't realize the hype was so high on these.

    Oh well

Cheers, and thanks for the help.

Too many beers from breweries I've never heard of going from zero to instawhale of the week. I got a Beachwood Barrel Aged Full Malted Jacket. 160 bottles only. Can I get a choo choo?

I love that people think that because these beers are from Iowa, they are just overhyped and don't deserve to be potential whales. If a beer is phenomenal and has a low bottle count, it has the potential. It is what it is. Stop whining already.

obviously the beers can be just as good as any other but after literally every release from breweries most people haven't heard of the FT forum is flooded with ISO cable car rare DDG mimosa for the newest 4.99 rated stout with 3 reviews from people who all have bottles for trade

MD is the only one with a low bottle count (300) Assassin had 1000 or so. It is far to early to be trading these for whales. Too few reviews, and the vast majority are by locals who would want to hype the brewery. As a life long Iowan, and a guy who likes TG, people need to be realistic and get these beers into other folks hands. Then next year they may very well deserve whale status.

1000 bottles isn't a low bottle count? Really? Also, from what I've seen MD is the one that people are pushing for whales. Assassin is always thrown in on the deal. I have several bottles of Assassin and haven't once thought trying to trade it for a whale. In the end, it is what it is. If someone has one of 300 bottles of a fantastic beer, why shouldn't they try to land something difficult to get?

If its so amazing, why not drink it instead of driving the price up and trying to win the trade.

Couldn't the same be said for any "whale?"

In a sense. The difference between whales and instaWhales is the number of reviews, and an accepted consensus of quality over time. When the majority of great reviews are by people with FT offers, there's an artificial spike in value. It's saying 'I have something awesome I could sell you, nobody can confirm how awesome it is other then me. But if you want it, you're gonna have to give me that thing that a lot of people say is awesome.'

Seems like I've seen more ISO's for MD than FT's and with some big offers as well probably not helping slow hype, worthy or not.

Its going to take alot of beer to get morning delight.

Assassin should be alittle easier to get since it had a 12 bottle limit.

I was all over the churro beer (aka BA Abraxas), because I like churros. I can't find a reason to trade up for either of these. Could someone fill me in on why they're so good? Does either one taste like Cherry Garcia or Phish Food or something equally whaley?

I think a major factor of what's driving the price of admission on Mornin' Delight is that it was aged in Pappy. Right, wrong, or otherwise...people see the word "Pappy" and go batshit crazy and start asking for ridiculous shit from the word "go." As if the barrel instantaneously provides for a world class beer. I agree though. The increasing tendency to take something that just released for its first time ever, and try to exact established, oft reviewed, well revered beers for them, is going to ruffle some feathers among the general population.

The main problem was someone Stupid Traded a Mimosa for one early on in trading and all the Homers saw Dollar signs.

I'm not talking about everyone but there are plenty of them out there.

Source on this? I didn't realize it was even barrel aged.

Morning Delight isn't barrel aged. Kentucky Brunch (BA Morning Delight) is.
