So...let me get this right. Mornin' Delight isn't even barrel aged a d people are already demanding ridiculous shit for it?
So..I'm guessing once they barrel age it, much less age it in a Pappy barrel, we should expect lil waxed 12 oz bottles to command what, Blabaer?

I didn't know MD wasn't barrel aged. Makes the FT's posted thus far infinitely more absurd.

Well, get your Blabaer, Deviation, DDG, and Izzy bottles ready for this one.

Damn you Hayden, you beat me to it!lol

I will add that i found it easier to complete a trade for 3F Hommage than i did for MD. And this was done while trying to trade for MD. True story...

When Swamphead releases their BA Roosevelt aged in Pappy barrels it should land 2x Mimosa because those will be in 750ml bottles so they'll be worth more than Morning Assasin. I might go 1:1 with Peconic or SH BRL, but only if people arnt trading their Mimosas at a proper level then and ONLY if I have extras FT. Will probably toss in some CCB shelf because I'm a good trader.

And thank you for the correction. I'd just assumed it was barrel aged. Apologies.

    3F Hommage. That's like...shelf beer. We're talkin' about Mornin' D, here.

Seriously. I wish I could bet on a beer's review score plummeting. I'm sure they are good (even great) beers, but history has shown how these releases from the middle of nowhere play out almost every single time.

I personally haven't had morning delight so I can't speak in regards to whether its "worth the hype." I do find it a little humorous that there is such a strong reaction to the ISOs like this is the first time a limited bottle from a small brewey has had this effect on the ISO forum. There have plenty of times this has happened and this will certainly not be the last time.

A Blabaer 750 just traded for 2 Morning Delight. Ridiculous..

This happens with every beer no matter how good. See HF releases like Ann, Damon, Mimosa, Juicy, etc. People expect the best thing they have ever tasted and when it's not, the scores slowly decline. There wouldn't be much of a market for betting as everyone who has been around for more than a few months knows this always happens.

Perhaps this is the new way. Micro releases in micro bottles for MACRO returns on trading? Do they make 2.5oz bottles? I kid, i kid...

Why is this beer making everyone so upset? In the trade forum I've seen 2 guys from Minnesota shooting for the stars which seems to have gotten everyone riled up. Everyone else that has put up FT's seems to have trades completed in a few minutes as I've responded to several that were already closed. 90% of the post's are ISO's. I'm not sure why. I haven't had the beer. That being said chill the f out and trade for it next year. It's a tiny brewery, but they are expanding.

Except it doesn't happen with every beer. In fact, those beers you referenced have all held up very well over time. All 4.4 or higher with a sizable number of reviews. I'm not talking about a beer slowly declining as it increases in review volume, which happens to everything, I'm talking about a substantial crash.

Assassin has 7 reviews, 4 of which are mid-3's. That beer is going to crash hard - the 'hads' are the only thing keeping it afloat. Ann, for comparison, has 45 reviews and only 1 mid-3. Assassin will likely end up around a 4.0-4.1 once it spreads out. Yet right now Ann is a 4.58 and Assassin a 4.52. The scoring can be wacky sometimes.

Except all of those mid 3's are from last years release which everyone said was mediocre. The review's from this year's batch from people I know and many of which aren't on BA say this year's is significantly better. So, while you may be right, you may also be totally wrong. I don't have any for trade and didn't go to the release, so I have no dog in this fight. I do however think you may be wrong about the ratings crashing.

Edit - Also, I have been drinking TG's beers for a couple years now and they used to be very inconsistent (especially the IPA's), but it appears recently the problem has been cleared up to a great extent.

As someone who has had both beers I can tell you that I will be shocked if the scores on either of these beers plummets as more people try them. I've had quite a few of the bigger stouts (BVDL, BCBVS, BCBS, BCBCS, BA Speedway, Black Tuesday, Abyss, CBS, KBS, BBp5th, BN, Nooner, 1414, 15, etc., etc.,) and I can tell you that both of these guys stand up to, and in some cases, exceed these beers in quality IMHO.

Assassin is like a thicker BCBS (it actually has a lot of similarites flavor wise to BCBS IMO) and Mornin' Delight is unlike anything I've ever had before. Closest thing I can compare it to is a fresh CBS. It is for me, one of my top-three beers. Obviously this is just one man's opinion so take it for what it's worth, but both of these beers are world-class. It doesn't matter that they were made in the middle of nowhere (Alchemy, HF and Lawson's are all in the middle of nowhere and that just adds to their popularity).

That all being said, I agree that things seem to be a little out of control. I think the main reason for that is because of Mornin' Delight. A beer that good with a 300 bottle count (for only 12 oz.) bottles is gonig to make it hard to get. You also have to take into account the two bottle limit AND the fact that it is likely that a bunch of it went to local folks who aren't on BA. Add all that up and you have a few BA'ers that landed 2 bottles and had the opportunity to taste it at the release to see how good it is. You're going to have a hard time getting those people to give up any of their precious bottles (which is why there are far more ISO's than their are FT's involving MD).

Assassin, on the other hand, is completely obtainable IMO. While it was still a relatively low bottle count (somewhere between 1,000 and 1,200), the bottle limit was 12 so there are definetly people out there that are willing to trade them. In fact, I'm going to be sending one bottle of it to one of my tradings partner just for the hell of it.

Anyway, I think people shouldn't lump these two beers together in terms of them being insta-whales. I agree, MD probably qualifies (although I beleive time will show it will live up to the hype) but I believe Assassin can easily be gotten, people just have to stop posting ISO's where the main ISO is MD, just go after the Assassin and you should have far more luck.

One thing you can say about both of these beers is that they will be made again (and with respect to MD, probably in larger quantities) next year. If you don't want to give up what you have to give up for MD now, just wait a year for it to come out again. That's what I'm doing with BA Abraxas. Sure, I'd love a bottle now, but there is no way I'm going to give up what it would take to land one at this point.

No way in hell will Assassin end up around 4.0. The fact that you are saying this without ever having had it make you have absolutely zero credibility.

This is all you must know about these beers.

    FT: CFH '13 ISO: Mimosa

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Lets see how thats works out. The dude trading the mimosa must add something along the lines of BoT since CFH was $30.
