That's why I generally prefer pale ales to ipas, especially with sessionable hop bombs like the Kernel do

Yes it is. Unless, like unrequited love, you don't see it for months at a time, and when you do it might cost you a lot of money.

These days I've only seen sporadic bottles of BD Punk IPA & 5am Saint in the supermarkets here. Like BD stuff is being rationed. Anyone else seen anything similar?

Nope, I have noticed that NO-ONE is buying the Tesco Double IPA now that it's no longer on the multi-buy offer down here. It's annoying because if they don't turn it over, it's just going to get more stale. It's already 2 months old. Grrrr.

Forgot about Tesco Double IPA. Still sells up here but seemingly not in the numbers it once did. I sort of get the feeling that with all the new crafty type breweries turning up everywhere BD is no longer the flavour of the month.

I concur - as other small breweries have kicked off I've become less enticed by Brewdog. Partizan and Wild Beer Co. are killing it, among others. Although that doesn't explain the supermarket situation, as BD are probably the only brewer with the muscle to get their products on those shelves....

Also, just finished a Ripon Jewel and am now imbibing a Westmorland Ale.

Partizan and Wild Beer atm are everywhere. I think it shows just how important image is, because Wild Beer aren't consistently good, and except for their saisons, Partizan are pretty much Kernel in fancy bottles. Wild beer also.went for the fancy bottle approach.

Old Engine oil, Traquair jacobite and what would have been the new-ish Courage RIS except when I opened the bottle the whole thing cracked down the side and fell apart in my hands, over my shoes and my floor. In times gone by I probably would have got a straw and assumed the position. This time I got the mop

    I don't think I'll rate it

With limited shelf space for most places here I can't blame places, especially independent offies and bars/pubs, from stocking whatever is flavour of the month

Brewdog still seems reasonably well stocked round here - although the bigger bottles of punk are always either well stocked or sold out. They just had a few 600HL tanks added to their new brewery, I'd guess in the coming months see some more of it around if it is scarce for you now zimbo

Now on a beer from the Axholme Brewing Co. - Isle Pale Ale. It's rather tragic; flat and slightly vinegary....

Sounds like my homebrew. Gives me hope:grinning:

The Axholme brew was definitely off - how unfortunate. Finishing with a Thwaites' Tavern Porter.....

Not exactly 'weekend', but just got back from my trip to Scotland and was able to smuggle the following back in my luggage!

Nice One. All good stuff. When you have the Old Parochial give it a bit of time when you pour it. There's a slight fizziness when first poured but it blows away in time when it becomes decadent and potent. Then its barrel time. Mmmm.

Nice little haul there. Some good brews; funnily enough I just bought one of the Aether Blaecs earlier today (they've been on the shelf for ages).

Currently drinking Kelham Island's Riders on the Storm. The label makes me think of Frodo escaping the wraithes in the first LOTR film....

Nice! I saw it and thought: "Stout barrel-aged in 28-yr Teaninich casks... how can this be bad?"

Yeah, I've had a few Hardknott beers and liked most of them. However, others have mentioned (rightly) that some of them have a 'home-brew' character. Not sure what the barrel-aged ones will be like.....

Just finishing a Kernel IPA - another sterling effort from the London brewers.

    Punk IPA coming up....
