Doom....

It was weird: I was offered Doom by clerks at two different stores in the Chicago suburbs over the past two days, without me even mentioning it, just browsing the craft sections. They must not be getting the frantic calls that usually accompany releases like this is all I can figure. I passed on both as I'm spending my dough on Parabola and Stone IRS/Espresso.

 

Just bought one at Champane's for $10.99! Call and ask for Michael, he may be able to hook you up with one.

 

I was at the Binny's in Bloomingdale this morning and it was already gone. They said they had only gotten one case of it and the vultures pounced on it first thing. Should have known. No idea what the price point was.

 

Wish all stores would do this with all beers once they purchase it from the distributor the Brewery has no right to tell them when to sell it anyways and why doesn't anyone else have a problem with Founders releasing things in other markets while making Michigan wait?

Got two bottles. It's quite good, but not amazing. I'm glad I got to try it, as it's worth trying, but I'll send my other bottle to an out-of-state friend who won't be able to get his hands on any.

 

I stopped at a few stores in Oakland County. All wanted $18-20. One store hadn't received their shipment yet but said they had 4 Kbs left......$14 a bottle!!!!!!! It was difficult not to laugh as I walked out.

I just drank my bottle, while it had an interesting flavor (the BA drowned out the distinct flavor of DT) I found it hard to taste Double Trouble in there.

I don't know about the previous version of this beer, same recipe? Was it called Hand of Doom? I was skeptical about a barrel aged IIPA, if thats it I'll pass next time.

 

I think this is the same as Hand of Doom, if I remember correctly. Snagged one from one of my regular bottle shops for $13.00, and was also able to find a DFH 120 min. just sitting on the shelf. Hitting up the other reg stop to see if they have one for me as well, but since I already got one, probably won't go over 13 for it.

the new batch is called enjoy by 05.17.13 ipa...i few places in the chicagoland are have it on tap i believe...i remember seeing a flyer saying something to that effect.
