A San Miguel Fresca (yeah, I know, but it was the last one!) and a Newcastle Summer Ale (also shit).

 

It's OK, I've just cracked a Black Isle Hibernator Oatmeal stout to atone....

 

I agree. Last time I had one in reminded me of carbonated rotting brussel sprouts. Gross.

 

Yeah, I noticed your review didn't praise it too highly. I thought it was pretty good, though not amazing. Could be more intensely flavoured given the strength. That said, I've kept this bottle for the best part of a year.....

Verdict: give it another chance

 

Hawkshead Brodie's Prime and Cumbrian five hops were swiftly dispatched earlier today at a 'spoons as I was waiting for a train. Both thoroughly recommended.

Hog's Back Majest.e.a. - picked up cheap last week. A jubilee brew; tastes a bit meh....

 

Harbour Pale No. 5 Citra (cask) possibly the best beer in town yesterday.

 

Yakima Red from Meantime. Very watery, thin. Some nice clear hop notes, but they aren't backed up by any complexity. It's crying out for some fruit I think.

 

Was in town earlier and had a swift half of Phin & Matt's Extraordinary ale (Southern Tier). Rather nice, even at £3.

Currently on Acorn's Barnsley Gold. Tasty....

 

Hawkshead Red on cask. Was ok.

 

In town again earlier. Had a half of Moor's Raw (superb) and a half of Proper Job (not bad).

Now on a bottle of Bank's Fine Fettle.
