Philly Beer Week 2013 (May 31st - June 9th)

I was there an hour before hand.. sitting at table next to bar.. service at those tables can't keep up..its impossible to.. but was able to sit at the bar. no issues getting any beer I wanted.. I go to this event every year and have never had any issues. And while crowded... its about the same when flyers or phillies are in the playoffs...

 

....but that won't be a factor this year

Here's the annual Belgian/American PBW collaboration (source - mybeerbuzz.com). This year's is between Weyerbacher and Brasserie de la Senne -

 

Oddly enough, two of my better experiences with brewers came from these two labels.

 

Just moved back to Philly after many years -- this is gonna be my first PBW. Stoked!

 

I'm not dying, but I do enjoy trying new beers.

Can't wait for all the events. My wallet will surely hate me my the end of the week but every event I went to last year was amazing.

 

I ran into you one time at the Wawa when you were just finishing getting gas. I told you to have a nice day and you responded with a grunt and failed to make eye contact while snorting. You are on my shitlist. Do you see how stupid this sounds.

Don't sleep on Arctic Alchemy! It's a pretty awesome beer...far superior to what Fegley's usually produces.

 

I propose a flash mob tasting at one of philly's better BYOBs. I suggest Han Dynasty on Monday(only BYO day), or Pumpkin on South any other day of the week. Could be a good option for in between events.

 

Chili Szechuan on Baltimore Ave.... kinda puts the Handy Nasty to shame. =X
not in service or décor, though.


God damn. we need to rent a bus and go to Golden Gates up in the northeast.

 

The appeal of the two BYOs I listed is their location to bars having events....Pumpkin's location is clutch, but I'm down for other suggestions.

 

Don't remember the name for sure (La Viola, maybe?), but there's a BYOB across from Monk's.

 

First of all, every week in Philadelphia is "beer week." That said, I will be up June 7-10. Not sure, which events to hit - my girl's folks live in Media, so I have a place to stay (in the 'burbs). As one who has experienced most of the city's primo venues, my goal for this year is a simple one: two beers at any place not visited previously. Of course, this means none of my favorites: Eulogy, SPTR, Nodding Head, Standard Tap, Moriarity's, Triumph, Good Dog, McGillans and many others - not including Monk's, which I find to be overated and hateful. Yeah ... I said it.

 

This is the fakest event in the world. We drink good beer all day in Philly fuck a beer week.
