I've been out of the beer circle for a while, can someone explain what Dave is? Or is it just a satire on white whales?
It's the second box in the comic strip, says TED in the background. They're saying that he is so important after getting Dave that he gives a TED talk on it.
Dave is a real white whale, but yeah - I think it's a safe bet that this is a satire on white whales in general.
really, noone gets this? This is a knock on many of the "best beers" out there, that are actually the most hyped up and talked about beers. Many "craft drinkers" think its cool to think that the beer that has the most hype (which usually is "tough" to get) is the greatest beer ever.
It is worth noting that the Hair of the Dog brewery keeps a copy of an earlier Trouble Brewing "DAVE" cartoon panel on premises. I was there when the artist signed it at the brewpub. Alan Sprints gets the joke and enjoys it.
i wonder if afrantzell read any of my work on the trade forums concerning becoming The Beer King. also, this trouble brewing was especially good. have to admit the ted talk was the clincher.
