Just got mine this week, don't think it's gonna last very long.... I mean it's already been aged in barrels right??? :grinning: How long do you plan on sitting on yours?

I need to get my hands on some first. If I get more than 1 then I'll definitely age one. If I only get 1 then I'm definitely going to drink it right away.

An hour or two? As long as it takes to get to like 50 degrees in the fridge

Not long. I'm very familiar with this beer, since before and after bottling began. It's best around the 8-10 month old mark IMHO, but subjective...I'm well aware. Opened a 2011 last weekend, and felt as if it lost some of it's umph. Easy answer is buy a few, have one fresh and age the other couple as you see fit. Still have another 2011 for trade if you're curious to figure this all out sooner than later. BCBS is the first brew that comes to mind for discussion. ;-)

Thought it was amazing out of the gate, but too much coffee. 8 - 10 months sounds about right. FW beers are aged and blended to such perfection that it's only a matter of subtle nuances that need to be fine-tuned, not a whole reshaping, at least in my opinion.

I have heard it is better to play it safe with freshness of parabola. I know someone how had all 4 batches and felt like each year was better. Whether its due to recipe or going down with age I wouldn't age it too long.

Also did they sell out surprisingly quick in your town? Here in Sacramento it hit most everywhere on wednesday and is pretty much gone everywhere even with 1 bottle limits.

I'll give it a good 15 minutes to develop, then I will perform oral on it. I will picking up a 2012 bottle as well tomorrow! I'll let that one age, and drink the current!

    I get 6 a year.
And do three vintage verticals. Just finished my last 2010,
Next will be an '11,'12,''13 tasting.
The other three I drink when I'm in the mood.

For what it's worth, Firestone Walker says this of Parabola, §ucaba, and Double DBA: "Storing in a dark place at or below 40F will allow them to best age for several years."

I keep all my FW beers in the beer fridge at around 38°F. Haven't really noticed much of a change yet, they just stay delicious. I've still got about a half-dozen each of 2011 and 2012 Parabola, just picked up a couple 2013s and I'll likely buy a few more over the next few weeks.

I usually buy about 4 bottles. Share one with a friend and age the rest. Opened a 2010 Parabola for New Years and it was very good. I have Parabola on tap every year and its always hot which it fine but the time I gave this 2010 bottle helped refine the edges. If your a baller and could buy a case go for it but I recommend buying at least 3 bottles to age. Cheers! :sunglasses:
