I'm currently drinking my first one ever, and while it is good, I'm wondering if I find it to be a little too bitter. Still tho, it's obviously a very good beer, but in my opinion, not as good as the Older Viscosity. A side from that, I also grabbed a 2012 Parabola last night.. Is that any different than the 2013?

Parabola is a hoppy RIS. I love it. 2013 is better than 2012

I just had the 2013 Parabola, & I thought it was amazing. In the past year, I've gone through a lot of imperial stouts (for the 1st time in my life), both regular & barrel aged, & I've had nothing close to what I've experienced with Parabola. What I had tonight was like an epiphany. Maybe I'm buzzed because it was 13%. But I dont think so. I think the bourbon barrel aspect added a beautiful compilation of vanilla and coconut notes to the roasty, dark chocolate & tobacco flavors to create something that was as close as beer can get to a wine. So beautifully crafted. It reminded me of what I love about a nice old vine zin or a zin port. The perfect amount of harsh bitterness paired with sweetness, & running the gambit of flavors in between (tobacco, dark chocolate, coffee, oak, etc.) to create a beer that's not like any beer I've had before & which makes me suck on my tongue to get every last bit of deliciousness from it. I'm sad I couldn't find more than 1 to purchase, and a slow clap is all I can think of to show my appreciation at this moment, though honestly my wife is just looking at me funny now...

Vegas didn't get much, and I couldn't even grab one before they were all gone. :slight_frown:

I believe this year, they were aged exclusively in Four Roses barrels. As opposed to other years, it's been a mix of a few different whiskeys.

Its the same barreling as last year, with the addition of Four Roses. Barrel blending.

I thought this years was great as always. Some people are saying that this year was a little different but I didn't pick up any major changes. I would have to do a side by side to notice any differences and even then age on one of the bottles might discredit the comparison.
I just have to give credit to FW for releasing a amazingly complex BA stout for around $15 when frankly they could make it a brewery only release and charge much more.
I say if you have only one to drink it now. You will never know what you missed.

Had it on tap on Thursday night in Vegas at the Public House inside the Venetian. It was probably the best stout I've ever had on tap, hell maybe even best beer I've had on tap. Aroma and taste were just perfect and I thought the viscosity was just right, some BA stouts (BCBS) can be too thick. Although, I didn't seem to notice the bourbon as much in this as some other BA stouts.

Head to Public House in Venetian - $12 for a healthy pour ( oz wasn't listed, but it was definitely a generous pour - it was served in an huge snifter, but if I had to guess it was probably a 12 oz pour) - which is a steal if you compare that to BMC cans going for $7 there. They had Sucaba on tap too.

I had one that I'm almost certain was a barleywine. Not what I was expecting. Fortunately I still have some batch 1 bottles to enjoy.

Drinking '13 now from the bottle, had it on tap last week. Last night I drank one of my '12s.
I find I liked '12 quite a bit better. '12 had more bourbon, '13 more hoppiness and felt a bit thinner. Even though I wouldn't call '13 a hoppy stout, it's hoppier than '12, not what I look for in a stout at all.
It's good and I will be happy to drink more, but I definitely liked previous versions better than '13
