Does anyone else notice they have a really big alcohol tolerance lately?

It's funny, with the weather changing and warming up I've been in the mood for session beers and other beers in that 4-7% range the last few weeks. I think with all the stouts, barlewyine and DIPAs I drank all Winter these beers are going down at a very fast rate! Drinking these St. Lupulins like water

Actually since I've pretty much switched to mostly beer my tolerance has dissipated. I am a super lightweight now, which actually sucks.:sunglasses:

The other night I drank two Founder's Double Troubles at 9.2%abv in about 45 minutes and was sober as a judge. Uh oh...

Not informed enough to give a detailed answer, but as your body becomes more accustomed to large quantities of alcohol, your smooth endoplasmic reticulum in your liver cells (and possibly other places) adapt and can break it down faster. This doesn't effect health concerns, but will effect alcohol tolerance.

    Or something like that...

You, Sir, are in contempt of court. No one should be "as sober as a Judge" most equivocally after two DT's!

750 of 7% still gets me buzzed. Always has.

I feel ya man. Especially if I take my time drinking them. I had the Stone Espresso IRS the other day (11% bomber) and felt only a tiny buzz after. Oh well haha.

Just as weightlifting makes you stronger, drinking regularly (as everyone on this site does) enhances your tolerance.

    The more you know.

I know my tolerance has gone way up since I started working in the industry. I've never been a lightweight (always took at least 5-8 for me to have a solid buzz going) but now if I want to actually be drunk I'm looking at 15+ beers... I don't even try to get drunk anymore :-(

I've been drinking for over 20 years, so always have had a high tolerance. I'm talking more in relation to seasonal drinking, these dam lighter beers are like water right now!

IMO I have always had a high tolerance. The question is how much I drink before the wife can no longer tolerate me!? . Working on my first bomber of the Espresso IRS so we will find out! Cheers!

I'm a super lightweight, especially if I'm not coming right off of a big meal. Heck, had two Sam Adams after work the other week and was thankful that I hadn't driven in that day - I would've been sitting in the car in the parking lot waiting to sober up!

I have a high tolerance but I only drink on weekends. Maybe that counts as regularly, since I regularly drink every weekend.

My problem isn't really with the alcohol tolerance, but more with my inability to taste subtle flavors in smaller, less complex, warm weather beers.

Yes. It sucks when you have to hide your tolerance around people that only drink one beer at dinner or other event.

Only drinking one beer pisses me off

I can drink more beer than any person should be able to drink. I don't tend to push those limits particularly often though, and I invariably regret having done so. It comes in really handy at large bottle shares and DLD, though, as I do hate to turn down a taste of something I've not tasted.
