BROOMFIELD, CO (May 2013) - Founders Brewing Co. will be offering this summer its seasonal "All Day IPA" for the first time ever in cans from Ball Corporation.

"Founders Brewing Co.'s decision to offer its craft beer in Ball cans is a strong endorsement of the can as a sustainable, consumer-friendly package that can accompany craft beer consumers anywhere they go," said Robert M. Miles, senior vice president, sales for Ball's metal beverage packaging division, Americas. "By moving to Ball's aluminum cans, craft brewers are finding new ways to differentiate their brands. The result is an engaging package that is impenetrable to light and oxygen."

"The decision to go with Ball for our cans was really a value judgment on our part," said Brad Stevenson, Founders' vice president of operations. "We always seek to maximize value as defined by the best combination of quality, price and service."

Founders Brewing Co.'s All Day IPA will be available in cans across the brewer's distribution footprint beginning this summer.

Located in Grand Rapids, Mich., Founders Brewing Co. was started in 1997 by co-founders Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers. Since that time, Founders has evolved into one of the most recognized craft breweries in the United States. Not just cans, but 12-pack cans. Nice to see that some of these new session beers are moving towards more appropriate packaging.

So...is it important to note who manufactures the cans? Like, are they some kind of cool, new can technology or something?

I've been loving SN pale ale in cans. I really hope to see the founders cans right beside it.

It's important to Ball Corp. the manufacturer and the company who put out the Press Release.
I don't pay close attention, but Sly Fox, for one, uses Crown's cans - it's Crown's design that they are using for that 360 lid on (some of) Sly Fox Helles and Pikeland Pils cans.

Nope, not everyone. And I'm pretty sure the comment you quoted was simply a lighthearted sigh of frustration.

I like the 12 pack thing for 12oz cans... much prefer tall boys. Wish more people would get on that!

Can design is so ugly. Can't quite get used to the lack of brown from the glass. I think it would have looked better to do two brown strips on the top and bottom.....

Is 'Ball' publicly traded? I see good things for them in the near future...

Great River brewery in Iowa uses some weird brand of horrorcan that uses a peelable label. It's cheaper, I guess, but holding the can is like squeezing the hand of an octogenarian.

Yes, it was nothing more than that. There is plenty to choose from out here. I just wish Founders would make its way out here instead of Magic Hat, Clown Shoes and others that have recently made their way to Colorado. I'll calm myself down with an Odell IPA.

I enjoyed chugging an ice cold All Day on Sunday after doing 2 hours of yard work in 99% humidity. If I'd had a can I might have shotgunned the sucker!
