I'm going to be hitting up Torst for the first time on Saturday. I'm hoping they at least have some Justin Blabaer available. It's probably better for my wallet if I'm not tempted by the super rare lambics, so I don't mind if they're not available.

The super rare lambics are pretty much off the menu anyway.

Yeah, that was kinda the point I was making. I don't mind if they're off the menu because then I won't be tempted to buy them.

Hah, my bad, I should've read your entire sentence. Yeah, I agree it's probably better not to be tempted by the $80 Fou Foune. That hurt my bank account for sure.

Damn, $80 for a Fou' Foune!? Was it an older one? Some bars around here had Fou' Foune last Spring/Summer and were only charging $40-$50 for it.

That was for a 2011 Fou Foune, only because they were out of the 2012. This was a few months ago. At least we got to try Blåbær too!

I can't speak as to what the managements plans are for their bottles and how they intend to sell them but I can tell you with complete certainty that what was opened during the first week or two is a fraction of what they have in their cellar.

Hopefully OP, your next time through you have some better luck snagging some harder to come by bottles.

Hey Sam, it was good to meet you and I'm sorry we couldn't sell you any of the .rar shit. I agree that the bottle list isn't as epic as it was, but we plan to add some new bottles to the menu soon. Hope you still had a good time!

Hey man, I'm sorry you had a bad experience at the bar and if I had known you were stopping in I would have shown you around. We're expecting more Justin this week or the next and I agree the NN isn't as fresh as when we tapped it. Let me know next time you're in the area, Cheers!

Although Justin Blabaer has received a considerable amount of hype (justifiable hype at that), which caused our stock of it to disappear rather fast, we still have plenty of sleepers available on the menu: i.e. Tørst Front Room, Bourbon Barrel aged Even More Jesus, and just added: Aun Mas Cafe Jesus (which is fantastic). Hopefully, more Justin shows up soon!

Joey and I will both be working Saturday night, lets talk beer!

Thanks! I had Aun Mas on the opening night at Torst is easily one of my favorite imperial stouts. Can't wait to try Barrel Aged Even More. Disappointed I had never tried it while it was on tap for the first few months since opening.

Just to add another opinion - I entirely get where you guys are coming from who have been disappointed with the recent bottle list. I live in the area and was lucky enough to try some of the crazier stuff that was on the menu initially, and I've seen the obvious decline in sours/rare beers being offered.

However, 2 things to keep in mind. First, while rarity and sour levels on the bottle menu have declined, the quality and caliber of beers has stayed remarkably high. It remains one of the better bottle lists around. And second, and more important, the tap list! Try some of the weird shit they put on that you've never heard of - seriously, these guys do a better job than anyone else at finding hidden gems (even if it's coming from a known brewer, they find the under the radar stuff). Not to belittle Troegs, but going to Torst and having a Nugget Nectar is sort of missing the point. Go for the weird Danish one you can't pronounce. Maybe I'm brainwashed, but I'm always pretty pumped by the tap list, and how frequently it rotates.

...and stepping down off the soapbox now, I love sours. If this shit about Shelton Brothers is true - fuck 'em.

Yup, ask your server what is interesting on the list. The servers are almost all beer geeks and super pumped to be working there. Ask them what they've been drinking, you might be suprised.
