Blind BIF 8: Hints, Hauls and Reviews

Looking forward to this as a first timer. I've read through some of the previous rounds, but what is the preference for wants/quality beers vs. interesting blind beers? I'm assuming "just do both", but... Also, what is the etiquette if you want to send a beer to fit a theme but it is widely distributed?

 

im also a first timer, been reading these bifs for a long while now. cant wait to get this started!

 

Anything goes really, but the majority of boxes end up being somewhere between awesome and amazing. It's going to be tougher with only 8 beers, because there is less room to play. But with 12 beers, you tend to see a good mix of homer beers, limited releases, and complete oddballs. A good amount of vintage beers seem to make their way for this one as well.

For the most part standard BIF rules apply - try to send stuff you'd enjoy, hit some wants if you can, focus on things they can't get in their own market, etc, etc. But if you have a mass market beer that nails the theme, nothing at all wrong with including that.

 

First hint, I've been in like 400 BIFs with my target, but until now he's never shipped to me and I've never shipped to him. I think. I could be wrong! But I'm pretty sure.

Well f*#k!!! I cant hit one of my targets wants. I'll be sending out some good beers none the less. My target lives near water. I'll ship by the 2nd week of June. Hopefully I can dig something good up in the meantime.

 

Well...rules are made to be broken, right? My box will be shipping on the 28th of this month, and arriving on the 30th. It simply cannot be helped I have the opportunity to include some really cool (and good) goddamn beer in my target's box because of a trip I'm going on Memorial Day weekend...and some of it needs to be enjoyed in as timely a manner as possible. So...hopefully my target attacks his box early and often and I can set the bar for this bitch pretty high.

 

Ok...so... 8 beers. 5 wants. 2 should be wants. Actually, he definitely wants them, he just doesn't know it. Three beer's rated 100, one 98, two 97's, a 96, and a 94. 5 brewery only beers. My target is east of the Mississippi. I've visited my target's state for an NFC wildcard game.

 

You can label some "drink soon". That's what I've done before with styles that don't age.

 

Oh...I plan on doing just that.

 

Looking forward to getting this going. I have 7 of 8 beers for the package. Some of the beers have been snoozing in my cellar for a long while. One of the beers is from a brewery release yesterday. The beer is not even in the data base. The brewery is literally 2 miles from the house I grew up at. Anyhow this package is going to a great BA. My partner and I have never traded together. I will be shipping out on 5/24 and it will most likely hit early in the week.

 

Damn, never saw a follow up beermail for this, so I'm out again.

 

This is going to be fun, 6 of 8 beers selected but it will be a few weeks before I can ship. I'll be travelling a lot the next two weeks.

 

got almost all the beers selected, have a group of 9-10 that i will choose from. tryong to find the tasty edible now... sevrel wants, 1 in particular that ive been saving particulary for this bif sevrel months ago!
