So if I'm first in line, I can buy all 50 cases? Nice. Time to write up a java script.

I totally agree....just stfu and buy the beer.....no need to announce it to the whole world  . as for trade value being dropped that is ridiculous. I would agree if they had another 3k to 4k bottles for sale. you'll be lucky if you can login and try to get a bottle or two. People can hope it drops the trade value but I think not. This beer is to highly rated and sought after. If you ask me I'm keeping mine and drinking them with friends and family.:stuck_out_tongue:

1300 was the number I've seen. It was 700 and 1000 the two previous years, so that number sounds about right. Not sure if that includes the hoarders too, or if they are an additional couple hundred or whatever.

Doesn't it sit in barrels longer? Time in barrel is one of the biggest price factors. Rare cost $50 because it sat for 2 years. That said, it's not like The Bruery tries to price competitively. They know it will still sell at $40.

Let's not pretend that CR isn't the best trading commodity we have in So Cal. And you just click your mouse and go pick it up any time? That shit is golden.

Oh, but this is beeradvocate - people don't buy beer with the intention of trading it. Silly me.

The vanilla beans likely cost more than the cocoa nibs.

1000 is low for last year. that was the initial number and those sold out first day. they bumped it up and opened up membership sign up again with the final number for 2012 RS members closer to 1350.

If your spending 20k on just one purchase, your cellar must be the thing of legends!

I'm wondering if they're doing this as a fairly safe way to stress test their website. I mean, there's going to be a mad scramble, but if someone can't get one cause the site crashes they're pretty unlikely to be mad since they still have their other bottles. But if the site were to crash during the public release of Black Tuesday...

They typically do this with the runoff. That's what happened when they had an access amount of White Chocolate last year. Just open the flood gates for folks to buy it and limit the amount they can purchase. Nothing new here.

Though if any RS member wants to hook it up for a current non-RS member and order me up, I'll also be much appreciative.

Or you can always trade it for a bunch of midwest shelf beers, I guess.

Nah. It's not open to the public, so there won't be that many people at all. If they wanted to stress test they could have opened up sales to everyone.

I like how people are afraid talking about it will drive up interest. They sent an email directly to everyone who can purchase them. Obviously a decent percentage of new (maybe some older) members didn't buy out their allocations so they likely won't be purchasing any more again. I think the no limit thing is what will make this crazy. As stated before... one man with 50 cases of chocolate rain is a thing of legend. Hoping to score 4-5 more though.

Yeah I do t think it will be too crazy since there's not tons of members. I think I will open one of mine with a Buddy that is moving out of state tomorrow. I haven't even actually tried one yet so I should probably know how bad I want more before next week lol

Rare was $50 because the barrels were the most expensive bourbon barrels on the market - PVW 23 year. Time in barrels helped, but the barrel cost was most influential.

Are you sure about that? I had always heard it was the time spent. Tons of other beers have been aged in Pappy, and none have ever approached that kind of price tag. (Or even sold for noticeably more than any other BA stout)
