NorCal Whole Foods Friday beer sale 5/17

sadly no Parabola or Abyss to be found in Berkeley, and I watched as someone snagged the last two bottles of Pliny as I arrived. I ended up with the following haul for ~$103 out the door:

1 Stone Imperial Russian Stout 22oz
1 Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout 22oz
1 Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale 22oz
1 Ballast Point Victory at Sea 22oz

 

Went to the SF Franklin St location today and grabbed a Sucaba and asked the beer guy if he had any Parabola in back. He sized me and the Sucaba up, said he'd check and came back with a bottle for me...AS WELL AS AN ABYSS!
I didn't catch your name Franklin St beer guy, but you rock balls!

 

Yeah, that guy is awesome. Unless he's been doing this for lots of people, I was the guy hanging out nearby with all the Peche n Brett...

Man, I dropped the ball, should've got there earlier. Lady in front of me grabbed the last 2 parabolas and talked the guy she was with into buying one even tho he had a never heard of it.
I ended up with a Sculpin, Stone Imperial Espresso Stout and a Ninkasi DIPA

 

I know of no other place that has a sale like this

I knew you had to be a BA since you were checking your phone. Hell, I was going to ask if you were.
He did this once before for me when I was grabbing something else. He brought up another Abyss but still have the XXIV Porter and Dissident down in the cooler. He's a cool cat but seems you have to prove your worth, which I admire.

 

Yeah, I was so surprised by the asking if I wanted anything from downstairs that I had to jog my memory on limited shelf releases. I almost asked about Arctic Devil, but I figured I was good once the Abyss showed up...

 

Did you ask? They definitely had Parabola in the back in the morning and I'm pretty sure it was at least a case...you just had to ask.

 

I did ask. I was given the "no, we've brought out these racks of things to have more shelf space. The only thing we had in the back was Pliny, and we have sold out of it."

Not a huge deal either way, as I'm already pretty set on Parabola and would just be buying more because I can't say "no" to it at such a cheap price. It's too delicious. Would be pretty upset if they were hiding Abyss from me, though, because I was unable to get any bottles of that either this year or the year prior.

 

Grabbed a Peche N Brett and a 3F Schaerbeekse Kriek at Portrero Hill. See the beer buyer (Wes?) hooking up coworkers with cantillon classic gueuze but he didn't put any on the shelves- can't complain...

 

The same sale went up in Northern Virginia Whole Foods today. Interesting

 

Kinda depleted in the Walnut Creek Whole Foods but Black Diamond was giving tastes from their brews and came home with:

Sea Monster Stout
Speedway Stout
Black Xantus

The Black Xantus was sorta hiding so look long and hard. That didn't sound right.

 

I hate you guys that got parabola, I've been skunked this year. Did get three Pesche n' Brett though.
