Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest 2013...

Anyone know of any other hotel thats not booked yet trying to find one but seems like every one is booked.. I know i'm late

 

Call the Holiday Inn express and inquire about the FWI block of rooms. I got a room pretty late in the game through that. The rooms don't show on normal web-searches, gotta call in and mention what you are there for.

I just dumped a room at Motel 6.

How much are people paying at Adelaide? I am paying $145 per night for Friday and Saturday.

 

I heard thats how much it is at Adelaide

 

We got quoted at $120/night.

Edit: But that was back in December when we booked the room.

 

Try the travelodge..it is walking distance

 

Hampton Inn has rooms and the shuttle picks up there. Somewhat near the brewery also, if you plan to go there at all.

 

Staying at The Oaks and know it's an 'East Side Paso' shuttle stop, but being under a half-mile from the festivities is it easy/safe to walk? (sidewalks, crosswalks, etc.) Would rather rely on the shuttle only if necessary (read: extremely hot or not pedestrian-friendly).

Staying at the Oaks as well. It's about a 5 min walk.

 

Except for a little hill going towards the hotel it is all sidewalk and a stright walk. The hill is dirt with a curb in the way. Also once you get through that intersection it is a very slow road so it is very easy to walk, weather on the other hand might be an issue, but it is only a high of 79 here today. The 10 day forcast has a high of 88 the day before the fest which would be awesome.

 

I'll take the 79 over the 88.

 

88 is if we are lucky. I wouldn't be surprised to see 95.

 

This discussion brings me to a question. How much shade is there at the venue?

95 and shade and beer=doable. 95 and no shade and beer=hell.

 

last year: 95 and barely any shade and beer

The one benefit from last year's weather was that all the dark stuff hit optimal drinking temperature in no time. It was actually kind of nice
