    That's my understanding from talking to other brewery owners. There are Pappy barrels (12, 15 & 20 year) and THEN there is the 23 year. Significantly more expensive in every way. Time in barrels definitely has an effect and contirbutes to the higher price tag, but 23 yr old barrels are uber-expensive.

    Plus it seems most BA beers are only stored for a year or so and rare was 2 years. Storage costs also influence bottle prices.

    The type of people who would make decisions like that are the same type who would get philosophy degrees, so the ROI is still more or less a wash.
