Beer lovers getting offended over a CNN article-priceless.

Laughing about ridiculous inaccuracy is hardly getting offended, but whatever works for you...

Top 10, no specific order: San Diego, Portland, Bend, Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Philly, Chicago, Asheville and Grand Rapids.

I think they mean cities that make their own beer - not get it from other places.

not being a wize-ass - i just think the poll is taking breweries into consideration

This article was obviously written by someone who knows nothing on the subject. For one thing San Diego breweries are spread across San Diego County so the whole top beer cities doesn't really fit. Also for SD they listed Alpine Ale as a top draw??? I love Alpine but people aren't usually going there for the Alpine Ale they are going for their delicious IPA's and food for that matter.

The fact that Grand Rapids/Wisconsin/Northern Vermont don't make appearances is troubling, especially when they included Denver. I'd say Denver is a close 3rd of CO cities behind Boulder and FoCo when it comes to beer culture.

Northern Vermont and Northern California for the hops. Southern Michigan for the dark stuff. That's all you really need.

Although this list doesn't carry much merit, I guess no surprise that they focus on the coasts. All good towns, but nothing from the Midwest on there just seems strange. Glad to see Bend, OR. Been there once and had an awesome time.

That's nice and all, but I don't think you realize just how WRONG INFORMATION they had on San Diego. They got that Alpine was popular, but somehow Alpine's owner became the owner of The Linkery in this article, and the Alpine Beer they cited was one of Alpine's least popular beers that don't have "illy" in their name. It isn't a geek thing; it was way wrong. It was like talking about how the Whopper is the best burger at McDonald's.

Of course Boston is a sea of beer, but it's a shame that CNN ignored Beerlington, Vermont.

Bend should be on your list to drink in. City of +/- 80k, beautiful High Desert, +/- 12 breweries, a couple hour drive up to Hood River. You really owe yourself at least a long weekend in the Bend area.

Ummm, Asheville, N.C. ...random? It posts 5 breweries in the header and boasts 11 in the paragraph, which is it?? And what 11...why not list them in each city given *sigh* ...not knocking Asheville, N.C., just news to me that this is the mecca of brewing in the south??

It would have to be longer then a long weekend. Michigan to the pac north is a bit of a hike.

It says 7, but that's on a scale of one to ten. I would agree that Asheville is the brewing Mecca of the south.

There is scheduled air service into the Bend/Redmond airport. It's a great area to visit, depending on what non-beer stuff you like to do. A lot of folks will go spend a couple days over there in the middle of a PDX trip.

Just for grins, I found flights from Grand Rapids to Redmond (I used Labor Day weekend) for around $650. O'hare to PDX, around $450. Not cheap, but not terribly expensive either.
