I think what Stone Brewing is doing with the enjoy by series is awesome.. that being said what happens to the leftovers. It's such a great beer I don't think there's a ton of it but who gets the credit for it. Do the stores get credited back from the wholesalers? To the wholesalers get credited back from stone. Or is it if it doesn't sell your stuff with what you bought but you gotta pull it off the shelf .....?

I was very curious of this too, there is a smaller bottle store here with shelves of the 4.01.13 batch still there.

I thought about that as well. I guess it'll just make its way to the clearance rack quicker? Stone's quite a popular brewery so I'm sure someone's bound to buy it if it's cheap enough.

I asked my local bottle shop guy if he had any left, this happened to be May 17th of the recent Enjoy By version. He sold me his last bottle and told me our Orlando Total Wine had a ton left and were basically giving it away to anyone who was making a $50 purchase that week. When I called Total Wine to see if they were indeed blowing it out, the service manager laughed at me as he said it flew off the shelves the day it arrived there. My local bottle shop guy has proven himself to be a fountain of misinformation previously as well.

I think that there is a much bigger risk of this beer being forgotten in someone's cellar...

[not because it's bad, because they are forgetful!]

Dunno, but I do know that I won't be duped by this beer again. Definitely a step down from Ruination

I keep reading about clearance racks on this website. Only 1 bottle shop offers any clearance in my town and it's all on their shit beer that noone wanted to begin with (they did discount celebration to clear it out once). I would crush half off 4-1-13 Enjoy By.

i find a hard time believing there are a lot of left overs. If its anything like here in Chicago, bottles are off shelves pretty quickly...let alone, 5 weeks later. Having said that, a step down from ruination? I mean, I think this is a phenomenal ipa, but a let down? ones hopes must be set pretty high to think this beer is a let down

This is BA....everyones hopes are high, otherwise we wouldn't be spending our valuable time trolling beer blogs.

But in all seriousness, I think its really really interesting how polarized opinions are regarding this beer, and it is a fantastic example of how palates can differ - not just in preference, but actually in the elements of flavor that they can perceive. It seems that reactions are divided between those that get the typical floral, juicy, citrusy notes that many great west coast hop-bombs have, while others seem to pick up an overwhelmingly huge onion/herb/garlic character from it (for better or for worse - thats a preference issue). Weird how peoples palates are so vocally divided about this one.

One of the beer and wine shops near my office definitely still had bottles of the 5.17 on the shelf when I stopped in earlier today which means there is at least one other place that is keeping it on their shelves. In this particular case, my sense is that they didn't much effort into getting their supply on the shelves, hence why they still have a bunch hanging around.

I personally can't imagine a better DIPA, and I have had most of the big ones. That being said, Ruination is great! However, it would be silly to call Enjoy By a step down. I would say it is a fucking flight of stairs above Ruination actually.

But, like everyone else here, I have an opinion and an ass hole.

Wow- it sounds like we should be getting a larger share of that shipment before it reaches CT. I still haven't even seen a bottle in NY/NJ, it sells so quickly (although I was fortunate enough to get a growler of the 5/17, fwiw).

I hope Stone is tracking this sort of thing and starts to get the kinks worked out soon.

Maybe they could start distributing it to WI so that it could be drank before it even gets a chance to hit the shelves.

I am just curious...did you have it pretty soon after it was released, or closer to the "expiration date?' I only ask because a couple friends and myself DID actually notice a difference closer to the date. While still remarkable (IMO), it was not as good as it was the first week it hit distribution.
