Sour, Saison and Funk Round 5 Hints and Hauls!

    Rules and such just for reference:​
    For those who have no participated before, please do not try to enter this unless you can bring real good ammo to the table. I have had a lot of interest from people who have not been part of it before, and for new people that want in, you have to bring the big guns to the table.

    The idea for this one is a box filled with lambics, wilds, berliners, saisons, farmhouse goses, etc as well as anything and everything else that has Brett or is otherwise rustic or funky.

    The rules:

    - At least 6 beers, with a minimum of 150oz.
    - All beers must have an rAvg of 4.0 or higher at the time you send them
    - Try to find fun and exciting bottles / growlers that your target otherwise wouldn't likely be able to try
    - Quantity is good, quality is better! :wink:

    I'm looking for a ship date June 21, 2013 AT THE VERY LATEST. This should give people some time to put a damn good box together and time for the wallet to recover a bit through Thanksgiving.

    I'd like to cap this at about 20-25. Preference to past victims, err... participants.

    We already have at least 12-15 former participants involved, so we will not need a ton of new people.

    If you're interested, reply to this thread and I WILL CONTACT YOU. I'll limit it to people with at least a few trades under their belt, though if you're a newbie and want to lineup an experienced trader as a sponsor, that works as well.

    Targets should be out early next week, or sooner if it fills up fast.


    I'm very excited to get this one going again. Here are the rules:

    - The shipping date is Friday June 21, 2013(At the latest)
    - At least 6 beers, with a minimum of 150oz.
    - All beers must either:
    (1) be a want; or
    (2) have an rAvg of at least 4.0 on Beer Advocate at the time of shipping
    - All beers must be saisons or anything that is funky and/or sour. This includes all the sour styles on BA as well as any other beers that are listed under a different style, but were intentionally soured or inoculated with Brett.

    If you can't hit wants, please try to find fun and exciting bottles / growlers that your target otherwise wouldn't likely be able to try. If, after you've hit the minimum within the guidelines, you want to add something that doesn't quite fit the 'rules' (homebrew or less than perfect rated, but still cool beer) go for it!

    Same here.

    I'm sending out to the West Coast. Looks like I'll be able to hit a lot of wants and be able to throw in a few of my favorites that I hope my target will enjoy.

    My target will likely be getting a certain beer that may have been released this past weekend that may have been brewed with violets, lavender, and pomegranate.

    I'm sending out to the west coast as well.

    Never trader with this person before but he's a pretty active trader and a veteran of the SSF BIF.

    Most of his wants are American Wilds that are pretty difficult to get. I can hit a couple of the lofty wants, but it will be fairly difficult for me to much more than that. However, I'll try my best to send things well regarded from the east coast.

    To my sender:

    To my sender: I am a Bruery Reserve member since 2011, so I am not really ISO of normal Bruery sours. We get excellent selections from Russian River, Cascade, Jolly Pumpkin, St. Somewhere, Allagash, but would appreciate brewery-only releases and vintage bottles. I would love to get try Upright, Crooked Stave, Logsdon, and other similar small, newer breweries that are experimenting with sour/funk. I have pretty good access to the basic Belgian stuff (Tilquin, 3F Oude Gueuze, Cantillon Rose/Gueuze/Kriek, Boon and Girardin), but would always welcome Cantillon and 3F.

    I like tart and lightly funky saisons, but don't necessarily like beers that are all brett or all funk without some acidity to balance. I really like fruit lambics, but enjoy gueuze and unfruited wilds as well. I really like Berliners as well, especially with interesting fruit additions. I tend not to like darker sours and soured versions of normally clean beer stouts, barleywines, brown ales, old ales, etc.

    I too am a Reserve Society member. Other than Bruery I'm open to everything. But as JP said, fuck me you can send what you want. Wait that's not what he said, but close enough.

    I'm good on Bruery, UNLESS it's Griffin :wink:. I'm also in CS Reserve. I funky saisons and bretted pale ales are becoming a favorite, but i like most anything that fits this BIF.....

    To my target: I'm able to hit one of your top wants (your welcome). I don't think w ever traded, but I'm pretty sure we've had a conversation on here at some point.

    To my sender: I'm in Europe from June 10-20 and like many others here am in Hoarders. I'll update my wants this evening, but I like good beer, so it shouldn't be too hard.

    And to my recipient: I have never traded with you or traveled to your state. And you'll be getting a ton of wants!
