BS aside, baycat gave you a pretty good list. I also like to hit up Magnolia in the Haight. Bear Republic is also a little past Russian River.

Cheers to baycat for the pointers. I had found most of these in past searches, but you've provided a great consolidated hit-list. Heading out for the FW Invitational in a couple weeks and starting out with a couple nights in the City so this was a great help. Planning a drive up to RR for lunch on Day 2 as well.

Was visiting this past week and staying at the JW Marriott, only a couple blocks away. Walk over to City Beer Store, then Zeitgeist, then Toronado and then Magnolia Brewpub. They're all only 15 mins walking from each other and the walk is easier after you've drank a few at each spot.

Beware - you may get stuck at RR :grinning: Every time I went for "lunch" it ended up getting dark outside by the time I left.

Yes, it's bad. It's a shame such a nice venue has such bad beer. But I think it caters well to the mustachioed residents of the neighborhood. "Taste like PBR!"

Make sure you hit Trader Joes for the freshest beer in town.

When you are at Toronado, bring a credit card. They dont handle cash because of the mass amounts of homeless people looting.

Funny, I heard they only serve you if you look like the looting homeless.

No, but they do serve you quicker.

The amount of trolling on this thread is fantastic.
But seriously though, everyone calls it "Frisco", all the beer bars are strictly credit card only, and nobody at any of the bottle shops have any idea what you're talking about when you mention the words Pliny and Elder together in the same sentence. Have fun!

And all the best deals on rare beer pours can be found at Monk's Kettle and Abbot's Cellar.

I will say this, one time when I was a total newb I asked if the Toronado did growler fills. I got some crap in that thread.

But they don't advertise it, so you have to ask three times. They'll act increasingly annoyed, but then...BOOM! Magnums of Younger for everyone, including your mom!

True. Santa Rosa is a dry city also, except for Tuesdays. RR will fill growlers, but does'nt sell bottles any longer. The best chance of getting seated there is around 6pm weekdays. The place is a ghost town on holidays.

Good trip! Thanks for the tips BA's!

Damn, SF and Napa was a blast! My wife and I got in Wednesday and visited Urban Tavern (Sculpin Big Eye, Heretic Evil Twin, RR Blind Pig), Jaspers (AV Oatmeal Stout), and fior dinner - Gitane (FW Red Nectar & Port Brewing's Wipeout IPA). We finished off the night at Toronado with a Pliny the Elder and Rodenbach Grand Cru! MMM

Thursday we hit up Fisherman's Wharf in the morning and enjoyed OBC's Sticky Zipper IPA and Speakeasy's Prohibition Ale with some fresh steamed seafood, salmon over lobster ravioli and of course clam chowder and lobster bisque. We next visited Speakeasy's Brewery and had a Smoked Payback and the SF Brewer's Guild Green Death. We then had drinks and fries with a beaitufl Followed that up by visiting the Trappist in Oakland where Drake's was doing a tap night. Had a Blue Bottle Coffee Imperial Stout, amazing, and a Curieux by Allagash (look forward to aging my two of these now). After picking up my brother and his gf, we headed to the Marriott in Napa where I enjoyed a AV Boont Amber and Napa Smith Pale Ale.

Friday we visited Silverado for a tasting, DuckHorn for a tour and tasting and Quintessa for tour and tasting. All phenomenal. For lunch we had Gott's...awesome! For dinner we went to Farmstead and corked a Prisoner and Cakebread Cellars '09 along with some lamb followed by a Bed Head Red.

Saturday we visited Chandon and headed thereafter to Russian River! Had Consecration and Pliny the Elder along with a tasting of their Belgium and Regulars. We left with three growlers, three Pliny bottles and five Consecration bottles. Awesome beer bites, savage sauce and pizza. We followed that up with Lagunitas where I had their Lucky 13, Gueze, Kriek, Fusion 14 and Smoked Kronik. Back in SF, we went to Hops and Hominy where I had BP's Victory at Sea. That night, we went to Rickhouse for some mixology drinks.

Sunday we had breakfast and then pre-gamed for the Giants game with a growler of Pliny. At the park we had some Widmer's and more Prohibition Ale. We followed that up with visiting South Park and then City Beer Store where I had a nice sour red, and then bought two of each Moscow RIS, EvilTwin Even More Jesus and SoftDK, and AleSmith Speedway Stout. Thanks for all the tips in this thread y'all!

Ooo yeah and DrunkenMonk, MssrTussaud, AdamScott, and DanScott -- thanks for the best of the tips!!

Heh, my lovely wife introduced me to them. They take off of DFH's love for grapes or something
