I thought I'd start a thread where people can chime in on their favorite breweries/pubs/beer-centric spots that also offer good food, however you want to define that. I enjoy your standard pub fare from time to time, if it's done right, so I'm not necessarily talking just about fine dining. Just looking for places to put on my radar that consistently offer a combination of tasty beer and a solid menu. Maybe this can evolve into one of those threads that we point the tourists to whenever they ask about good local spots to check out.

I'll kick things off by saying I like the gumbo @ the 74th Street Ale House in Seattle. The only reason I don't go there more often is because they don't allow kids. Maple Leaf Grill has had Lucille on tap the couple times I've been there, and Hi-Life in Ballard and Green Lake Bar and Grill always have Boundary Bay IPA as well as a few other rotating taps, but nothing special. Blue Star's food is pretty average but I can at least get RPM there. Ray's has had Trickster on tap the last couple times I've been there. Oh and I like some of the food trucks @ Chuck's. Still haven't made it to either Tangletown or Burgundian, but fried chicken and waffles sure sounds tempting. As for breweries, the only ones in Seattle that I'm aware of that have anything resembling a menu are Hale's, Big Time, Naked City, and Pike (unless you want to count Gordon Biersch, Ram, McMenamins, Rock Bottom etc.). But there are probably several more that I just don't know about.

    Cheers!

Step 1: Go grab some BBQ at RoRo's
Step 2: Walk to Fremont UBG
    Step 3: Laugh at hipsters
Step 4: Enjoy great food and beer

(Also I'll throw a shout out for Bambinos)

It's a no brainer, Brouwers serves great food and great beer.

In the Eastside, I visit Sunset Alehouse in Issaquah time to time with friends. They have good food and solid beer selection on draft (some bottles too).

I love Malt and Vine (and their patio when it's sunny out), but they don't carry food, although there are 3-4 restaurants next door to it (including a pretty solid Korean restaurant called Stone)

I went to the RoRo's across from Ballard High School once (formerly Zesto's, and now a restaurant for one of those taco trucks that have locations around town, El Camion maybe?) and don't recall it being particularly memorable. Maybe I'll need to try that other location. Good BBQ is sorely lacking in this town.

Almost forgot: Elliott Bay. We've been to the Lake City Way location several times, now that we're living in Maple Leaf. It's usually pretty noisy but plenty of taps and pretty good pub food.

I'm a big fan of Breakside Brewing's menu, to the point I'd even say it's the best brewpub food combo place in PDX.

Deschutes is a fairly obvious choice, and Hair of the Dog generally has something tasty to eat (though their menu isn't quite as sterling as when they started, but that was back when you could get something like rabbit confit for $8. It's a little more standard now.)

Beermongers/Apex also have it pretty good because even though they don't serve food, they have Double Dragon nearby and, soon, Pine State Biscuits.

Latona Pub has fantastic food. Hudson Public House is awesome and Mutiny Hall isn't bad, either.

Burgundian's food is pretty good, but Latona Pub is way better.

Beer is fine, but my heart belongs to Pine State.

Timely thread. Going to Taproot tonight & trying to decide where to go for eats & a beer beforehand.
I agree with 74th Street. I've had the gumbo & the blackened salmon sandwich. Both delicious. Their tap choices are somewhat on the thin side though but they always have something that will do.
Perhaps time to finally check out Tangletown. Can't believe I haven't been there yet.

Hop and Vine has great food, my favorite burger in PDX.

I'll second Breakside as well, definitely the best brewery/food combo in Portland.

I have to second Mutiny Hall. Great burger, solid taplist.
More often then not, when kid is in tow, it's Mutiny Hall or Elliott Bay LCW.

On the rarer occasions, we've been to The Burgundian and quite liked it.

Naked City's right around the corner from there, but if it was me I'd probably go to Gordito's and get a big wet steak burrito as big as my head. Been going there since Gordito was yay high.

Naked City has really improved their menu in the last few years, and it's just around the corner from Taproot.

You seeing Bach at Leipzig at Taproot? My buddy Matt is playing Georg Lenck in the show.

Had decided on Naked City to finally check out their food - been there many times for beer - until I saw Dan started this thread. Just might re-decide on Naked City.
Cool about your buddy. I know somebody (sort of) who has a friend in the play. What do you call that? 2 1/2 degrees of separation?

In PDX, my favorites would include the Grain & Gristle, Higgins and the Moon & Sixpence. The problem with the G&G, is that I usually don't have much room for food there after our obligatory fish sauce wings appetizer at Pok Pok Noi.

Highland Stillhouse pub down in Oregon City has some pretty decent food as well, along with a killer single malt selection and completely decent tap selection.

For somewhere between PDX and Seattle, I will throw in Hop-N-Grape in Longview. Awesome smoked meats and sides.

Snipes Mountain Brewery and Restaurant in Sunnyside is very nice & a very good way to break up a long drive.
BTW - the play is tomorrow night. Will be going to Elliott Bay Pizza tonight instead.
So, why didn't I mention them earlier? Incredible tap list and above average food. I like the pizza with the pesto sauce in lieu of the usual marinara.
PS boy this thread beats the hell out of emoting over the price of Cascade.

Definitely +1 for Wildwood. For some reason I keep on forgetting about Wildwood when it comes to a great beer selection, along with their excellent food and wine selection.

I'm a fan of BYO. Get some takeout from Kedai Makan, In the Bowl, Hot Mama's - bring it over to Stumbling Monk or Montana for a drink.
