If all beer was the same price, do you think craft beer would outsell macros?

And then there are people who say they don't like the taste of beer, and then I give them a Weihenstephaner Weiss and they like it. Because they think beer = BMC lager flavor

Put it this way; whenever I go to the liquor store, I walk past the numerous bottles of wine and liquor without looking because I rarely drink either. I'm sure a wine drinker could watch me and say "how can he just ignore all these great bottles of wine?"

Sometimes I eat fast food. I know it's not as good as a restaurant with a trained chef, but sometimes I just need something quick and cheap that will fill me up. I still sometimes drink fizzy yellow beer, too. I know it's not as good as craft beer, but sometimes it's more appropriate for the occasion. Everything has it's place.

it is true that they pretty much don't care, but at the same time i still scratch my head about it.....it's kind of like people that still resort to fast food. you think they would of just got sick of it by now

the way i see it, people who are really into craft or even people who just enjoy craft beer on occasion are just more open minded....not just about beer but a lot of things

people who resort to the same ole bmc crap, are just close minded douche hats....why you ask? because if they're going out of their way to drink beer in the first place why not try different types :astonished: they're usually just stubborn and close minded, or their taste hasn't evolved yet

For me, the key to jumping from Macro to Craft was sitting down and learning/reading about how beer is made, the complexity, the skill, the various ingredients and the variety of styles and flavors.. Most BMC drinkers think beer is beer, and why should they be interested in anything other than "which brand is on sale this week" ?

Same thing with pretty much anything you could have or not have an interest in.. Wine, Liquor, Cheeses, Food.
Once you learn more about it, that item can become more of a passion vs just consuming it and you branch out in your variety

I have beer friends that sometimes give me grief because I drink a larger proportion of Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada beers instead of *insert obscure nano brewery here

Being fairy new to the craft scene, I don't think the average beer drinker cares, they're blinded by advertising and what they drank growing up. I get "the look" by the majority of my friends when I bust out my "fancy" beer. Meh, I'll be fancy, they can live in blissful ignorance.

Hopefully forever. All of you new craft beer drinkers have already double the prices over the last 10 years :stuck_out_tongue:

I was almost turned off of craft beers soon after I turned 21. I tried a couple stouts and porters and hated them. Then almost a year later I started will some pale ales and eventually IPAs and DIPAs. Now I just hate the fact that I drank macro beer for so long. Now if someone offers me a bud or coors or some crap like that I won't even take it.

I'll happily drink a Budweiser or (local reference) MGD if offered to me. The only time I've been hesitant about AALs is when I was paying for the drinks for a friend of mine and he opted for a Budweiser instead of a Brooklyn lager, both beers cost the same, like 5,7 bucks at the place in question since both beers are imported and distributed by the same company, Carlsberg Sweden, and I thought I was wasting money by paying for a Budweiser instead of a Brooklyn lager but he wanted a refreshing beer to end the night, and I owed him, so I obliged.

Well as far as I know Miller Genuine Draft is falling behind as far as sales goes in the US, yet it is fairing quite well internationally. I expect that most Beeradvocate members are familiar with Miller High Life but view MGD as a by-gone brand. I may be wrong though. MGD made its way into the top-50 most sold beer brands in Sweden in the year 2011 and barley dropped out of it in the year 2012, so it's among the 50th most sold beer brand over here pretty much. And I think it's alot more successful saleswise compared to the US.

Basically MGD has been alot more successful internationally compared to Miller High Life, which has been successful in India.

This year was the first year I ever saw it on the shelf in Quebec. My dad used buy it when we would go to Vermont on vacation. Imagine that, going to VERMONT and looking for MGD of all beers.
