More like acceptance. If they're going to be worn, those who wear them should at least use those pockets.

Don't forget the white visor. Preferably upside down, though backwards is also acceptable.

Man, I wish they poured samples in little boots!

So bringing food in is allowed? the faq says no backpacks, are bags allowed if so what is allowed what are limits. I would like to bring in food that could help me not to drink on an empty stomach. My main aim here is to enjoy new beers but not overindulge.

-Take a stroll around and not the vendors you want to see, sometimes they release special brews at various times throughout the eve/day that arent listed elsewhere.
-hit the bathrooms atleast a 1/2 hr before the ending, there has been problems in the past where they want everyone out and close he BRs in the back early which causes a cluster in the front.

I think the very limited exception are small amount of pretzels or crackers to help cleanse the palate. Something that could fit in a pocket or around your neck in necklace format.

If you are looking to eat while sampling, they will have two concession stands open on either side of the event. Your basic over-priced convention options (think pizza, sandwiches, fries, etc). I think bringing in a backpack of food might undercut that operation...

That was why I was surprised to hear people talk about bringing food in. I can see that enforced buying of over priced substandard bad availability food might be something the venue insisted on. Guess I will fall back on my original plan on carbo loading before and after. I love tasting these beers but sometimes the high alcohol %s can creep up on you so quickly.

What are the rules for bringing in water bottles? Don't worry I won't wear them in necklace format.

I suspect they aren't allowed. Although you could probably bring in an empty bottle and fill it from one of the water jugs?

Does anyone know if the "No Backpack" rule is going to be actively enforced? I've been coming to BeerAdvocate fests for years and I've always worn a backback without any issue. It's especially useful for ACBF where they sell glasses, tshirts, etc.

Anyway, I just found out about the rule last night and I'm heading to the fest after work today so I'm just wondering if I should worry about getting turned away at the door.

I would buy a tiny, $5 job lot backpack that you can toss aside if they give you any guff.

No backpacks because of the recent bombings. All events in the Boston area have tighter security for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I figured that was the reason.

This is a good idea. Probably what I'll end up doing.

Pretzel Necklaces make people look like morons? Good thing I wear my discreet pretzel underwear, that way NO ONE can judge me!

Pretzel necklaces look a little silly, but part of that is it comes from the same culture that wears big yellow "beer goggle" glasses and silly hats to these kinds of festivals.

As for cargo shorts... it's going to be 90 degrees. Half the male attendees will be in cargo shorts...

Don't eat off other people's pretzel necklaces.

Good idea, but a little too abrasive on the undercarriage.

I highly approve of shorts. It's the excessive and extremely large pockets with which I take issue. Cargo shorts just make a grown-ass man look like he's dressing like a teenager or he hasn't bought himself any new clothes since his mom bought him those shorts in high school. My two cents.
