The menu and staff were calling it Barrel-Aged Coffee Infused Abraxas and that's also what was on the event list so naturally that's what everyone called it. Pretty simple. Oh well. Oops.

From what I heard, all the Perennial beers came in Friday morning. Although the event listing of BV's Devil's Den tap takeover was announced weeks ago, one can only assume the bar received the final list from the distributor holding the event. BA Abraxas will be at Memphis Taproom today for their Half Acre/Perennial event.

Anyone go to either Cambridge or Bardcade yesterday? Curious as to how those went.

Today's schedule seems pretty subdued. With what sounds like a ton doing Tired Hands and Founders tomorrow I imagine today could end up being a "recharge" day for many.

If true, it's fucked up on Devil's Den's part to not correct the list.

I was wondering where all that chili and chocolate went...

S - A ridiculous amount of things, and after all it's an imperial stout and smelled the ancho, vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. Cinnamon maybe in the background as a generic spice. A little barrel character as well. Really awesome smell.

T - Hotter than I expected (booze not chile) from the smell. Just a nice kick of ancho (reminded me of how balanced Hunahpu's is, but not quite as phenomenal). Some coffee and chocolate. More barrel than in the smell for me, and finishes a little too boozy for my liking, but I'm being nitpicky. It doesn't quite live up to what I was hoping for (which was a top 5 beer), but it's certainly high up there. I wonder how it compares to the regular BA Abraxas with the extra coffee roast thrown in there. I don't think there was too much going on. The overall flavor worked, and the ridiculous amount of ingredients didn't detract in my opinion.

I concur, some blame should rest on Bella Vista as well. I mean, reps were there drinking with the crowd during the event. Does not matter to me, as I skipped the madness, but I am about to head to Memphis to get the real thing.

Capone's looks pretty good too for today. Some solid ones in there for IPA day. I do hope at one point in the next week or two to get around to that Helltown Rapture.

Really? I definitely got chile heat. Not a lot of chocolate, but I've had enough imperial stouts... There was something in there that had some heat for sure. If not, there was something off with the beer lol. Whatever, it was delicious regardless. And that was my first beer of the night so my palate was fine. The vanilla and whatnot could've been just like normal imperial stout characteristics because nothing was super strong, but if that didn't have chiles I should go see a doctor I guess.

Maybe it was my mind playing tricks on me, but it was not the bourbon lol. I reviewed it based on what I tasted, and I could believe the cinnamon or generic spice I got was barrel, but not that.

Guess ill have to trade for BA Abraxas now fml.

Its the placebo effect, your mind found what you were expecting to find not what was really there. Happens all the time.

Normally doesn't to me lol. In the grand scheme of things, who cares, but after having a lot of BA stouts it astonishes me if there were no chiles.

The real BA Abraxas does awful things to the beer on tap at Devil's Den (BA Sump). Sexual things. That are awful.
