Apparently that abraxas tap handle was all a lie. Still delicious though, never had BA Sump.

The worst part is the reps knew it and fucked yall anyway. That's how buddy rolls, drinking the good beer,.getting the better service then you and beating you on the good beer.

As for the Perennial Ales Abraxas - At the Devil's Den we were given the draft list by the distributor weeks before the event and before the kegs were even in Philadelphia. We released the list because everyone was asking for it. Kegs were showing up all week and some came hours before the event started. The emails between the distributor & I listed the beer as abraxas. The invoice we were given listed the beer as abraxas- we work on our draft list and lineup based off of that. Keg went in the walk in - keg got tapped - by the time we were told that people didn't think that tasted like the Abraxas the keg had already kicked. We were under the impression the entire time that the keg we were pouring was Abraxas. We apologize if this upset anyone, we have never mislabeled any of the beers that we pour, and it was not our intention to sell anything as a different beer. As this is our 5th Philly Beer Week, I can tell you the few days before are extremely hectic for distributors & bar owners. We get multiple deliveries from the same distributor on the same day, the trucks are loaded to the gills with beer for events and on occasion wrong kegs get dropped off at the wrong place. Sometimes it gets caught and corrected in time but unfortunately this time it did not. And I would like to make it clear that in no way am I blaming Bella Vista for this mistake, because my staff & I did not catch it when we checked in the deliveries. This was just an honest mistake and I apologize. But for what I have heard the Barrel Aged Sump was delicious and I look forward to pouring more Perennial Ales.

Founders All Star Road Show at World Cafe Live was one of the best events I've ever went to. Beautifully run by the staff there. Draft/bottle list was world class as expected and the music was amazing. Seeing their head brewer rock out on guitar was great.

Best part of the day/night was being the first person to walk into the event and ordering a CBS for $6.

Your take on the event is a bit different from mine. While I had a pretty good time (the selection was awesome), here's what I didn't like:

$6 for an 8 ounce pour of CBS is indeed a great deal, IF you were fortunate enogh to get any. I walked in around 4:20, ordered a glass of CBS, only to be told it had just run out (the event started at 4:00, so I guess it serves me right for being "fashionably late").

The price tag on the CBS was the only deal I saw. KBS was $9 for an 8 ounce pour; Bolt Cutter was $10; and Rubaeus, Devil Dancer and Doom were all $8. (eight ounce pours on everything)

As noted previously, there was a $10 cover charge to attend this event. At least when I took off, just before 6:00, there was no entertainment going. Again, serves me right I guess for not sticking around longer, but I honestly couldn't drink any more high octane Founders stuff, nor did I feel like hemorrhaging any more money there.

Hey, it was my choice to go and I knew what I was getting into, but I still felt over charged at the end of the day. No big deal, as the selection WAS amazing, but frankly I had a better time at the barrel aged event over at Capone's.

Today and tomorrow are heavy Founders days - Kite n' Key, SPTR, and Blue Dog in Chalfont all today (for the last one, list just came out last night on their FB), and then POPE, Capone's, and Jose Pistola's tomorrow.

I would imagine that Monk's will as usual have a wild PBW Monday scene with that sour/RR list, which especially stands out on a weekday that is probably one of the calmest days around town for PBW each year.

^^^haha see good minds think alike. 3/4 matching on Thursday even.

A few from each day that caught my eye -

Wed: the 20-tap Avery takeover at City Tap house, the Oxbow night at Jose Pistola's (prob Oxbow's best list of the week), and of course, the Funky Buddha night at Bainbridge St Barrel House (no list, but it's FB and they are one of those select breweries that can really draw, even "blind" - aka without a list). Also, if you're looking for something PA-local focused, Kingpin at Standard Tap is usually a fun cask fest.

Thurs: the Bruery night at Barcade, the Firestone Walker night at Kite 'N Key (that list will likely come out day of, but it's usually strong), the Bells BBQ at American Sardine Bar, and the 24-tap Dark Horse takeover at the Cambridge.

I would like to thank the guy, I think his name is Steve, who bought the round of JC RIS at Strangelove's on Saturday.

    It did not suck.

So we just got off the phone with the guys from Bella Vista & have the details for tomorrows Funky Buddha Event. The beer is arriving in Philly tomorrow. It will be delivered to Devil's Den as soon as it hits town. We will be starting the event at 4pm instead of the advertised 3pm - in an attempted to get the beers chilled down and settled so that they pour properly. And in case the delivery is running late. We will not be offering the Funky Buddha beers at the happy hour price if they are still on draft at 5pm but all other drafts will be 1/2 priced starting at 5. We will not be offering the Funky Buddha beers in growler fills, we want everyone to get to try the beers. If by any chance the Funky Buddha beers are still on draft Wednesday, we will sell growlers & offer them at happy hour. Here is what kegs I'm told that we will be getting but we will not know for certain until delivery tomorrow.
    No Crusts
    Last Snow
    Nib Smuggler
    Passion Fruit
    Rice Crispy Treat
    Pineapple Berliner

Dunno if you'll see this but good luck with the berliners. I hope, hope, hope they pour better than last year! Otherwise, start filling pitchers immediately and maybe you'll have a chance.

Erin your Bartenders were telling people when they questioned the Abraxas that they did not get it in and that it was another barrel aged Perennial beer.

I'm sure it was a cluster F for beer week but it seems like it might have been known before the event started. Just hope this doeesn't occur again because as a consumer this is the worst fear that bars are trying to pull one over on us.

    Thanks

This is my first philly beer week and I'm having the time of my life. In the span of two hours I've had Pliny the Elder, Allagash FV 13, Cantillon St. Lamvinous and KBS. This has to be the best beer city on the planet. Maine brewing at hawthornes is next
