I'll be here. Sadly, this is my last event :slight_frown: I wish I could go to Monk's Cafe again, but I only have so much money and time. After this, I'll be heading up to Capones to pick up some bottles. I'm going to miss Philly.

I'll be going to Johnny Brenda's tonight to try some new local stuff (Saint Benjamin's and Naked Brewing), as well as to rock out to The Bats. Not the most exciting event in terms of rarities, but whenever you can mix a beer event with some great live music, you're in for a good time. Cheers!

So your telling me that DD didn't know that they had the right beer right before the event. The one everyone was coming for. Amazing how the Bartenders knew and the beer kicked in 10 minutes. I guess the bartenders weren't busy and they had a quick meeting in the back to let them know that it wasn't Abraxas but another BA Periennal Beer.

Just saying. This isn't the 1st time this has happened.

If the service I received tonight at the FB event is typical for their beer week events, I think I just went to my last event at DD

Thank you to everyone who quadruple fisted FB at DD tonight and then complained about how the beer tastes too much like PBJ or marshmallows, etc. May you get a curb bite from the *****ies outside The Forum. That's all.

Since this is technically during PBW, thought I'd ask. Only Void day, what kind of lines should I be expecting? Thinking of making my first trip to Tired Hands so no clue.

FYI black note still on at prohibition though two hearted kicked, so that's the indicator if you want black note it'll last a bit longer.

Substantial I would imagine. But with one bottle limit and 220 of each, you should be in good shape if you get there reasonably early before it opens. Sunday is supposed to be good weather so that will encourage some more to come out as well. I would get there no later than 11, just guessing.

Pretty sure I'm sensing sarcasm there, but in case you weren't I'll go ahead.

I arrived at Devil's Den at around 3:15. I knew the Funky Buddha stuff wasn't tapping until 4, but I figured this event would be a popular and got there early to make sure I could get a seat. There was no one seated outside at that moment, the bar was full though, and there were a few tables in the other room(?). Overall, not very busy. I sat at a 2 top sandwiched between two 4 tops along the wall. I sat for maybe 5 minutes back before my very polite server came by, filled my water and dropped off a menu. I waited maybe another 2-3 minutes before she came back and asked if I would like a beer. I ordered a bottle of Avery Depuceleuse. I think it was $18. At about 3:35 she returns to tell me that they no longer have that beer.

At this point I still have no problems, their bottle list is pretty extensive, so I can understand beers being left on the menu as well as taking time to search for it. She was polite and apologetic about it taking so long. I asked her to give me a minute or two to look back over the menu for something else. I also ordered a flatbread at this time, which was out in about 5 minutes, brought to my table by a runner, nice. Well two minutes turned into about 15 before she returned. At this point I believe it was roughly 5-10 minutes before the Funky Buddha beers were to be tapped, so I told her that I'd just go ahead and wait for those to be tapped. Still really not perturbed, as I was about to pay way too much for a beer than I should have anyway, and Funky Buddha was the real reason I was there to begin with. Also at this time, a group of 3 sat at the table next to me.

At about 3:55 my waitress returned with the updated taplist that included the Funky Buddha brews. She took orders from the table next to me, who ordered six glasses, and myself, who ordered two. I think we all ordered Rice Krispies for one of our drinks. She told us that the beer would be tapped in 10 minutes (4:05). At that time I let her know that I had to leave by around 4:30, so if it was looking like the beers were going to take longer, I'd have to take off without them. At this point she seemed to get mad, so I reassured her that it was no fault of her's or the establishment, my time constraints are my problem, etc. I thought everything was cool, but then I noticed she was being pretty attentive to the tables around me, but ignoring me. Then, the straw that broke the camels back for me was when the table of 3 who showed up about 40 minutes after me got all six of their beers by around 4:10. She said not a word to me. I still didn't get too stirred up about it thinking my beers were right behind those ones.

Well about 4:20 rolls around and still nothing. I make eye contact with her and she comes to me and says "Just put your ticket down, should be right up". Now I'm angry. I ask to speak to the manager. She asks "why is something wrong?" I'm dumbfounded. So I explain, well yes, I've been here for over an hour now, I've not received a single beverage other than the two glasses of water you stopped filling a half hour ago, and the table of three next to me, who has been there a fraction of the time I have, has six beers in front of them! In not so many words she tells me I'm being unreasonable because its an event (as if its my first), and that she will "try" to get a manager for me. Maybe two minutes later she comes back with the beers I ordered, and I told her forget it. I asked if the manager was their way and she replied that she didn't try to get them yet. Now, the table that already has the six beers, is offering to but my two (which is cool, I would of done the same), so I pull $13 out of my pocket and tell her that is for the $10 flat bread and a tip, and depart in search of a manger.

I approach another employee at the bar and ask to speak to the manager. She explains that the manager, (Elisa?) was behind the bar pouring beers and was pretty busy and offered to help me out. I explain to her everything and she replies with the same "its an event" crap. So I just walk out.

No shit it's an event, I've been to plenty, that's why I got here almost an hour early, so I could get a seat, and a waitress, which often times result in you getting your beers a little quicker than waiting in the crowd standing at the bar... IMO, after I've been shut out of two (expensive) beer purchases, been waiting over an hour, I should have been her priority, not the three people at the table next to me who just arrived; and if she really wanted to be democratic about it, give me one of the beers from that table, and by the time they and I finish, hopefully our seconds are on the way out. Just a bad experience overall. I got better and more prompt service sitting outside of Tired Hands, in shitty weather, with over a hundred people, and they weren't even opening for another two hours. Candied bacon, music and tea.

It doesn't really matter what time you got there... there was a girl sitting right in front of me that got there at 1pm.... and we still got served at the same time and had the same amount... I could have walked in at 4:10 and went to the bar and still got beers before you because there are a shitload of tables and tickets that need to be filled rather than ordering directly from the bartenders.. at these super busy events you are always better standing/sitting at the bar... its just how it is

Its really the culmination of things, but when she told me my ticket just went in, after I ordered the same time as the others, cmon man. The bar is different than a table IMO as well.

Edit: oh, and from my experience, seated at the bar is the way to go, if not available, table is quicker. This event ended up not being busy to the point where standing near the bar would be bad. I expected a bigger crowd, hence the table.

Perhaps you had a different server? Though, I'm sure I could have been the only not happy with my service.
