I saw the same Facebook message you did. If I were speculating, I would say that maybe it is Enjoy By or perhaps an early keg of Ruination 10, but for all I know Pat doesn't like Stone...

Anyone know who the "special guest" was?

Boneyard Nefarious was the special. I thought it was just ok. New batch of Pure Hoppiness. Insane. Go there now and drink it. Bottles are fresh and bomb as well.

They popped open a keg of Hoppy Birthday at Toronado Wednesday - might still be some around.

Going camping about 20 minutes past Alpine and get to hit up the pub for the first time. So excited to hear fresh Pure is on tap. Happy Fathers Day to me!

I can't imagine going to Alpine and ordering a guest IPA.

Anybody get to try the Magnificent Seven IPA that was brewed for City Beer? I didn't know they had bottles of this and how and when was it available? It completely flew under the radar for me.

It's a mistake that won't happen again. The staff (whom I trust) were all raving about the Boneyard Triple IPA But next to the couple days old Pure Hoppiness, it tasted like pure disappointment.

As far as I know, they never sold bottles at the brewery. I think they tapped a keg of it, but that was it.

It was really good fresh, tasted really melony. After a couple weeks the melon flavor faded and it was more like Nelson. Still good but not as unique.

I'd say it's the best IPA I have ever had. Couldn't care less about KRBC Citra, PtY, HT, or any of the other beers of fame compared to it. I love those beers too of course though =)

I wonder why they don't make it more often?

I saw a bottle of it at Beachwood BBQ in SB the other day. Somebody brought it for the "most of the time" regular Weds tastings at Beachwood. I got there to late. But I also saw on the most recent New Brew Thursday the guys did a tasting on the bottle also. So bottles did go out. Maybe just to City Beer up in San Francisco only?

    That was my understanding.

It's a big beer and from what I understand is almost entirely Marris Otter malt. Marris Otter is a bit more rich and chewy than typical 2row malt and you have to throw more hops at a beer with it to get the west coast hop flavor going.

I bet this beer uses a lot of hops and they are busy as hell trying to get their new production beers in line. It'll probably come out sometime soon though. It has been a while. I wanna say 8 months or so?

    Thanks for the info.

It was last out in February. I'd love to see it more often than once every 4 months. It sells out in days, sometimes a day.
