For releases if you just want the bottles,do you have to stand in the growler fill up line or do three have a seperate one

I wonder if they might have a bottle only line. I was planning to head up but now that the ante has been raised, it might be crazy...great for people with real long drives though...

I am thinking they will have a separate bottle line. They did at BoT and when I was there the day before the Anniversary fest they let people go in and get bottles of Arthur and Brother.

The last handful of times I've been up in the last couple months, with longer lines, Phil has come out and announced that anyone just wanting bottles should come to the front of the line. So not necessarily a separate line, just an invitation to come to the front. Seems to work great for those people, and doesn't hold everyone else up.

In not a fan of that but I'm not going to be there so it won't bother me too much. I just feel that if the people in line for growlers in addition to bottles some how lost out that would be a shame. It also seems silly for there to be a bottle line if you then go in line for growlers after. Leaving the bottles in your car where it's hot?

In an ideal world people would just be patient and accept the fact they will have to wait.

If I am up there for a transaction that will be <2 minutes, you think I should need to wait in a line with people who will take 20 min+ per? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to screw anyone over. If there isn't enough for everyone who goes up on Thursday then yes, everyone should wait in line. But if there's plenty for everyone on the first day I'd forgo growler fills to help everything go faster.

That's not an ideal world for people who just want bottles:wink:

It takes just 15 people getting 5 growlers filled each and its an hour wait. Phil and Kerry can only fill them so fast. They do a fantastic job and are as effecient as possible. It just can't be done any faster unless you prefill growlers which won't happen anytime soon!

I've never seen that be an issue. For the last few bottles of the Juicy release in December that offer was not extended - first people in line got it. I would assume it's only done to be convenient to most people (trying to be the most fair to the most people... seems to be a theme...) when quantities allow.

In the last two months I've been up there a total of 5 days. I counted 9 people who took up the offer to go to the front over that entire time, and most were before Elaborative and Prolegomena were even released (when Edith and Soigne were on the shelf). Most people in line also wanted growler fills.

I understand what you're saying, but in my observation people have been about as close to ideal as possible in the last few times I've been up.

I was at the juicy release Shaun's mom went in line and just took people's orders for juicy and went down the line that seemed most fair to me. If you have two lines going it becomes a question of who was there first etc. The one line makes it pretty obvious as to who was there first. I realize it isn't great for people there just for bottles but come on who is there just for bottles? Anyone who was would be a fool to pass up on anything they have on tap and I don't think there is one person in this thread who would disagree with me.

I would just be there for bottles, as I've got work that day am not able to hang around.

I don't think this will be an issue of running out anyways because its in the middle of the week I'm just playing devils advocate here but Id feel kind of bad if I showed up waited for 10 mins got my bottles and bounced and some other ba was in line for an hour before I got there and he missed out at bottles.

That's the only point I'm trying to make.

I agree with that, I'd feel bad too. Luckily, I don't think the good folks at HF would let that happen. I'm pretty sure they're working with limits that will allow them to have the bottles at least until Saturday, possibly through the weekend, but not likely. That said, even though it's a weekday, it's still HFS. You never know what will happen.

The last real bottle release was for Ann/CD4/Jimmy and there were separate lines. You stood in line to get your bottles, and then waited in a growler line. I'd imagine we'll see a similar structure this time around, or at least I'm hoping so, so I can make it back for work in time!

Again, I don't think it's ever been an issue - I've only ever seen it done with sufficient quantity that there's no risk of running out that day.

Regarding Juicy, I was talking the very end of the release. We were there the very last day (the last bottles were sold to the guy behind us), which also happened to be the first day BoT was put on the shelf. By 11:45 there was quite the line. No one got priority over who was in line first. I don't think it's something worth worrying about.

Do you ever get the feeling that you are over thinking these things... just show up and buy some beer. If they end up being out of something you wanted get more of something else. Its not brain surgery... Relax and enjoy yourselves.

Reality check: I pretty much only buy bottles there - the growlered hoppy offerings are not my thing, although Everett is nice occasionally. Takes way too much of my time (and I am local) to get growlers filled with beer that has to be consumed fresh, so anytime there is a shortcut for bottle-only customers, I'm grateful to be in & out fast to get on with the rest of my day.

Pretty much 90 percent of peoples posts on BA are them over thinking something...
