Fellow BA's in California I need some guidance, especially from anyone near Santa Rosa and Russian River Brewing/pub. What hotels are nearby in order for me not to have too far to stagger home? And what other breweries/bottle shops are in the area we should pay a visit to? We will be heading there July 18-21. Thank you for guidance and info in advance! Cheers!

Wildflower is an awesome bakery. If you head out there, hit up Barley & Hops in Occidental. Great place, great people.

There’s a Motel 6 literally right next to Lagunitas. I’d go spend your daytime hours at RR, then spend your evening at Lagunitas, then stumble over to the motel once you’ve had too many pints of specialty Lagunitas taps. I’ve done this twice now and it’s a lot of fun (the atmosphere at Lagunitas is the best of any brewery that I’ve been to).

Thanks all for the great info. We are really looking forward to the trip. We used to live in VA and made a 4 times a year excursion to Philly just to buy Russian River brews. Been wanting to make this trip since moving here to AZ last August. Cheers all !

Thanks for the info man. I booked 2 nites there and got a great deal. Also Google Earthed it and it is definitely right around the corner. Excited to make the trip. The Lagunitas Beer Garden looks really cool. Cheers!

Ah man, the Courtyard Marriott (or Hyatt) in Santa Rosa is always a fun stumble home from RR.

I agree with you on the atmosphere at Lagunitas, but it should be pointed out that they close early: 9pm on Friday and 8pm on Sat and Sun.

When Lagunitas closes head to Taps in downtown Petaluma. Plenty of beer choices there. They usually have Henhouse Brewing Oyster Stout which is a great local beer.

There's always this guy in a thread....The OP obviously wanted recommendations from people who have experienced the hotels around the area, otherwise he wouldn't have asked. Why have a community to talk about beer and all things involved if you get bitched at for asking a question. Fuck outta here man...

Pretty sure it's one of those things where they don't want to take away business from local places who carry their beer. I've heard of other breweries doing the same sort of thing. Sucks though, because it's a truly great place. As mentioned above, Taps is nearby and it's very good.

Henhouse Saison is also excellent, though I wasn't a fan of the hopless version.

Yes, Taps has a really good beer selection. You should find Firestone Walker on tap.

I am going for 4th of July to SF and then up to Russian River and am staying at Hotel La Rose. It is a nice looking bed and breakfast place a few minutes walk from Russian River. I figured it would be a bit better than a normal motel and the rate was actually comparable to all of the hotels nearby. It is might first trip up there, so I am pretty excited. Have fun.
