Father's Day Saison in the fermenter. Just thought I'd update.

Brew days never go quite as planned and this was no exception. When fly sparging for the first time I forgot to shut off the valve to my MLT while I was finishing with the set-up with my HLT, and drained quite a bit past the top of the grain bed. So I had to essentially do a batch sparge/fly sparge hybrid. I was really kicking myself for it, but ended up with just under 70% efficiency...so it wasn't too terrible of a mistake.

So far so good .. Smelled good and tasted just fine out of the Hydrometer. I did buy 2 oz of falconers flight.... so im trying to decide if I should dry hop the pale with both oz's of falconers or just leave it alone and see how it is straight up.

I have the hardest time letting things be. I have no idea what any of my base beers taste like. HA!

    Holy no head space batman..

Hope you use a blow off tube when you fill your fermenter that full.

1" blow off tube, in fact. Normally I would have put this in my 6 gallon better bottle, but decided to give it a rest.

Good stuff. Hate to see tons of blow off and wasted product when it's not needed.
