The fact that he brought it up certainly let's you know that it's on the table. I'd be absolutely thrilled and it would probably cost the same (plus smaller stores wouldn't sell it by the bottle anymore). Now can we talk about cans? I want Leisure Time in a can

We have a new bottling line that we hope to have running by the end of the summer. Unlike our current line, our new one is able to change bottle sizes. What this means is that anything that is in a 4-pack now will be moving to 6-packs of 12oz bottles. All of our beers that are sold loose will stay in the 500ml format.

I think you misread. Unless there were 4 packs of this kicking around that I didn't see.

I'm totally cool with this as long as we see the same $11-ish price point...

Can we expect the price per ounce to be roughly the same?

Yeah I don't care much about cans at this point either. There is a useful time and a place for them for sure, but I feel like the market is now super-saturated with craft cans. For the few times a summer that I need to buy cans, my needs are already well met.

Cans are something we strongly considered when ordering our initial bottling line. The downside to cans are that there are huge minimum orders per brand. If we had gone with canning it would have been our three year rounds and maybe our 4-pack seasonals. Things like Kiwi Rising, Framinghammer and our other one-offs would not have existed.

The mobile canning line that is opening creates a lot of potential opportunities, so we will see what the future brings.

Despite the "insanity" of cans, I wouldn't worry much about it. Any BA knows that cans and bottles are effectively equivalent when stored properly. Cans may be more convenient for special circumstances, but it's not worth the money you'd have to throw at it imho. Don't fall for the hype! (it sounds like you haven't)

That said...I bet you could contract out the canning of a big run of Leisure Time or something in May and make your money back. Besides the mobile thing, is Wachusett an option? When they announced the addition of their canning line they made some noise about doing contract canning, but I have no idea what the logistics are like in terms of getting the beer to the packaging line.
