Only Alpine 22oz bombers can pour 2 14oz pint glasses full. That's the magic of alpine!

Best part of the article: "According to Silva, Green Flash will conduct critical analysis of the beers produced at each facility to make sure color, bitterness, and alcohol-by-volume are spot-on. They will also conduct complex water analysis to make sure they get off to a proper start with each brewing session, and enlist the quality assurance expertise of local yeast production facility White Labs."

    I thought this was besty's.....

"Green Flash will put it in kegs and move it to their loading dock for Alpine’s distributors to pick up to take to market."

Those kegs won't be good if they are flat and/or taste different every new batch.

Have you had a problem with flat and/or variable Green Flash kegs? I'm still trying to wrap my head around how these beers will taste like Alpine being brewed at Green Flash, but carbonation and variability are not things I worry about.

I'm heading to SD in a week and we're stopping in Alpine on the way back from the desert. What's the bottle limit at the brewery versus the pub? Is there any difference in bottle selection? Do they have anything great that's draft only? Also, at the brewpub do they have samplers?

    Thanks for all the answers!

The pub side has stricter limits on bottles (or at least did last I knew, but policies are subject to change whenever Pat feels like it), and only sells them when the brewery side is closed. Your best bet is to go while both are open, get bottles and/or growlers at the brewery, then go to the pub for food and drinks.

Depends on if they've stocked the pub or if something runs out.

    Yes and yes.

Be aware that the pub is usually thinly stocked on bottles; get there early Saturday unless you really want Captain Stout.

I'm kind of a pessimist here too. If this was a viable long term expansion strategy, I don't think Alpine would be the pioneer. The fact that a brewery as popular in the beer world as ABC can't seem to attract enough investors to buy facilities in Alpine (which is basically nothing but empty space as it is) raises some flags for me.

We sure do have some strange brewery strategies in this town, from Societe's "no bottled IPAs" to Alpine's wacky bottle limit/freaking out about beer sales/having all the beer brewed in MN.

What is so strange about Societe " no bottles ipas"?

    I think it's a great idea.

Actually the pioneer of contract brewing was this little brewery called Sam Adams. I know, hardly a roll model for using contract brewing to expand, practically no one has heard of them today.

    You prefer the $40+ growler?

Pro tip: If you hold onto your Societe growler after drinking it, you can get it refilled for a lower price than buying an empty growler and getting it filled.
