As predicted...this is a winner! Not sure why I don't drink more Green Flash but this one was very enjoyable. I was surprised how assertive the hop character was without losing the "stout" characteristics.

    Well done.

    Happy NBS to all!

    NEW IMPERIAL PILS SUNDAY

Stopped for a quick beer with a friend this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed this-

The conversation was good and I'd have loved another, just didn't have the time.
Cheers again and happy NBS all!

[IMG] Going against the recommendations at the start of this thread and going with the staple beer efforts of yesterday's thread. I have been trying a lot of new beers lately, most of them were very good. Just got a need to go back to my "staple brew" so I guess you could call this a change. SNPA is always a good choice.

Finishing up the Petosky IPA. 6.7% ABV, 74 IBUs. Big malts, big hops. It's a little rough around the edges. A little too much char on the malt side and hops have a bit too much bite for my liking. Formal review to come when I'm not typing on a phone. Will probably score out around a 3.3. Drinkable, but probably won't buy this specific offering from the brewery again.

More of a "what beer are your drinking now" post than New Beer Sunday. Both good threads, but this one does attempt to stick to the guidelines as suggested by OP. Try something new today and give us the rundown to keep the unique nature of this ongoing Sunday theme.

    Cheers.

Dark Hollow Chocolate & Coffee Aged

    So..., Follow the Hollow

Had their standard Dark Hollow last September. A reliable and enjoyable Imperial stout.
Seems surefire/formulaic to add coffee and/or chocolate to a stout for a quick tweak.
Certainly worked here. Dark cocoa and espresso, lighter oak and whiskey vapor.

    Cheers, all!

You are right, my bad. I thought I was in what beer are you drinking now. Obviously I have not had enough beer yet today

I think it will be ok because a beer you haven't had in an awful long time is like new. Besides we are all drunk on new beer sunday.

    Happy Belgian Independence Day!

Typical north Florida weather - hot and humid. An early afternoon thunderstorm got me out of a needed but unwanted afternoon of pulling weeds .

Opened a Victory V12 that I picked up at random the other day because it was on sale and new to me. I didn't know it was listed as a Quad. This beer is an interesting take on the style. I found it almost like a Doppel-Maibock; more pale and less malty and complex than I expect in a quad. Still a solid beer from a brewery that has never disappointed me. Cheers!

Happy New Beer (Mango IPA) Sunday ladies and gents.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day.
I had the afternoon free, so I hopped over to TJ's in Paoli to try another Mango IPA. This one is from Spring House (Conestoga, PA).
Not the monster that Troegs introduced a few weeks ago, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Here's to hoping your next new beer becomes your favorite new beer.

    Cheers!

    New Imperial Bock Sunday

Greetings, NBSers! Been a few weeks since I've been here. Overcast today in the greater St. Louis area, but that really helped keep the temperatures down nicely.

Been sitting on this beer for a little while and its time has finally come:

Glad I sat on it - the alcohol heat had definitely dissipated and the flavors are blending very well.

    Prost!

For the first time in a long time I'm double dipping in this here community. Ironically enough, in my previous post I was listening to the Argo soundtrack (studying), and as I type this (on a dinner cooking/study break) I am watching Star Trek The Animated Series (deal with it haters!), and they are in the process of exploring the planet Argo. What a coincidence!!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I screwed up my bike by riding to/from the store on a flat rear tire and hitting almost every pothole and road malformation on the route. Balls. Guess I'm back on foot until I can get my hands on an air pump at the least. I just hope I didn't do any structural damage to the rims. Oh well.
King Felix twirled another gem, even if our bullpen is still imploding faster than the old Kingdome

Anyway, about the beer: Iniquity. Southern Tier. I like CDAs (I also like that name considerably better than 'Black IPA.' there are enough IPAs. CDA is just a better name), and this one is a well crafted beer. I couldn't escape a weird grape-like characteristic that was quite unexpected (although a grape IPA/CDA.... nah. nvm.), and didn't appear to be experienced by any of the other reviewers. Dunno what it was.
    Oh wait, that's not it.

    There we go.

And because I had to make the dumb black sabbath pun, for music I'll go with:

I'll be thinking about you while I also don't drink any beer until Aug. 7, also due to illness. Hope you can enjoy some sooner than that, and that all turns out well with the surgery.

Happy New CANned Stout & Oriental Beer Sunday (Weeks 438 & 439)!
I started out last Sunday with every intent of doing this particular thread and then, unbeknownst to me, my wireless Internet failed. The lady at Verizon (soon to be dumped) told me that they have a skeleton crew on the weekends and that my repairs would be done on Monday before 7PM. I assured her that if my phone ever fails again, I will be sure to have it happen during the week so as not to be inconvenient for them.
I began (last Sunday) in Scotland, where I was left highlander and dry ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/148/81614/?ba=woodychandler) until today, when I resumed the normally scheduled madness, already in progress.
I picked up in China, hoping to score a diamond for Ma Petite Abeille, AKA My Old Lady, whom I am going to visit in CO by train, to give you an idea of how special she is to me: ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16236/38205/?ba=woodychandler )
I was unsuccessful in my quest, so I CANinued my far out Far East foray into Japan, where I declared myself "Ichiban": ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/292/39541/?ba=woodychandler )
and although My Old Lady is wild and never fails to trip my trigger, I maintain a fetish for fellow rdheads and when Red Racy herself flew past my door on her beach cruiser, I ran after her like a little kid chasing down the ice cream truck ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10321/32687/?ba=woodychandler).
We really shook things up, but I was not done in Japan, so I hurried right back ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/284/11490/?ba=woodychandler ) and then wrapped it all up with ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/284/800/?ba=woodychandler ).
I will be arriving in Denver early next Sunday, but I have no idea what my hot momma has in mind for the day, so I may or may not participate next week. I am sure you CAN carry on in my absence as I carry on.
