So who decides what's a beer and what's some kind of chemical reaction? After trying the raspberry with the Hawaiian punch with pickle juice flavor, plus the plasticky, dark, and disturbing herbal taste, I'd say you got off easy.

I feel for you I had an entire four pack of Rayon Vert geyser on me last week. it was not only a mess, but it was like ten dollars wasted. what was I going to do, go back to the store and complain and show them empty bottles?

    Sounds like an inadvertent drainpour

Search Kombucha and how it is brewed with a SCOBY.

When starting out, Unity found out they had to get a brewer's license since the drink had enough alcohol to be controled by the Feds.

We had the same experience with this beer. My buddy cracked the cap. Not opened, just cracked. Violently spewed out all over the floor (luckily not carpet). I grabbed it out of his hand and put a glass over it, ran to the bathroom and sat there as it unrelentingly sprayed out all over. Once the foam in the glass settled out, we had about an ounce and a half to share between 3 guys. The thimbleful I tasted was good at least:slight_smile:

I've seen gushers but this was spraying like a seltzer bottle on steriods. I know it's subject to further fermentation in the bottle, but that's careless to package and sell a product like that. That is a bottle bomb waiting to happen and I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear of someone getting injured from a bottle exploding or a cap taking out an eye.

I'm sorry but that sounds ridiculously hilarious if you could watch from a 3rd party scenario.

Sorry to kick you while your down but lol.

This thread is absolutely hilarious for some reason.

On a side note, I once opened a bottle of my co-workers homebrew and the cap shot off so fast that it gave me a bloody lip.

Bummer about the beer but I expected a video. I guess I'll have to perform the same ritual to see it.

I'm going to vote this thread as having some of the greatest avitars! (That's what they're called, right?) I guess I should break down and get/have/do one. It was the Heckle & Jeckle that put me over the top! Love those guys!

But, seriously,.....review the avitars in this thread....they're wonderful!

Not sure it will do any good for you, but Green Flash has admitted to gushing problems with last batch. Maybe brewery would be the one to contact.

Been there done that. But I guess it would be cheaper than blowing an entire bottle of great beer.

I bought a bottle of this exact "beer" from the store where Bob works. While it certainly wasn't my cup of tea, I didn't have any gushing at all. It poured perfectly with minimal head. In fact, here's a picture:

I had never even heard of a kombucha before I stumbled onto this thread. Thanks for the catchy headline which brought me in and caused me to learn something. I tip my cap to your fallen beverage though.

You obviously had the good sense to cool it down! I truly must learn the virtue of patience!

This little escapade of mine, while providing some amusement and some meaningful information, was not a blown bottle of "great beer;" in fact, far from it in my opinion. (In the words of a previous person posting, while I will try just about anything, this one was, in any event, "not my cup of tea.") So, the experience provided for a good thread, I hope, but the geysered bottle was not a great loss, all things considered.

Interesting, that much pressure to empty the whole bottle but it didn't blow the cork spontaneously? That must have been in there good.
