yeah the guy who brought his mom and dad was a couple people ahead of me...he even left the line to help his parents park. Came back and was pissed when a couple people around him told him to get to the back of the line...he didn't listen.

These trades are funny. Though I guess I can imagine that people are excited to have something to trade when every month there is the beer of the moment and 90% of all threads are "FT: BVDL / BA MEX CAKE / KBBS / etc etc ISO: Your left nut, you first born, your house, and any beer you've been cellaring in your house. Why? Because the brewery I could get to released something majorly in demand and now it is MY turn to get everything I can for it."

I am heartened that everyone who was in line when they opened at 11 got a bottle though. It looked doubtful for a while and I felt bad for whoever was going to be right next to that last wristband that was passed out.

Looking forward to subpoenadueces slamming this beer in three weeks.

 

you got it and its yours to do whatever so don't let the snark offend you but you buying a bottle to trade for something (probably pretty nice) from another region inherently screws someone from within stone throwing distance in your home who couldn't get a bottle. Imagine if you were number 370 and ten people in front of you all got bottles and said, oh you wanted one, do you have a BA Mex Cake? Again, what you did was perfectly fine and all, but that attitude and the fact that so many people are trading them right now, you can see why regulars who were shut out of a bottle are miffed. I've spent literally thousands at Clybourn over the years and if I didn't get a bottle while someone just got one for commodity value, I'd be angry. I wait in line to buy beer to drink, call me crazy.

 

I imagine the type who went to load up with mules today are also the types who are "totally into sours," while having no clue what a classic Helles is all about.

There is a lot of hate and anger on BA today. I don't really understand why so many people have their panties in a bunch, I mean I totally understand the line cutters this morning but so what if somebody wants to try to get a BVDL more power to him. My brother in law and I waited in line, got two bottles and will probably try to trade one to be able to try some new stuff.

I'm pretty new to the BA world, but all of my experiences have been great including Dark Lord Weekend and the couple of IP trades I've completed. Is there always this kind of response when a release happens or is it just Chicago?

 

BA beer releases in Chicago are the You Tube comments section of beer.
