I am planning on trying to get a velvet merkin and doing a side by side. Not sure how hard that one will be to come by though.

I kinda enjoyed that. Reminiscent of my high school days drinking wild turkey 101.

Any chance anyone is still there and willing to get hooked up to hook up a poor distant CO geek with a BCBS snifter???

I've always felt that FIB was something special between the Winsconiners's and the FIB's, with a little support of the Winscy's coming from Indy and Mich. This beer surely seems to be taking out the aggression of months of aggressive trading around the country on the poor FIBs. It's nationwide at this point. Poor FIBs...

No they didn't. I asked the bartender if they were gonna tap any today because the tap handle is still up but he said, "No, not today." They did have Flanders Red on tap tho.

Darn. Yeah, speaking of the BCS snifters, does anyone know if they still have those available, maybe?

You mean the guy who parked too close for his girl to get out of the car on her own side?

Has anyone cracked theirs yet? If so, please share your thoughts. 750 mL is a lot to drink for one person and I just recently moved to Chicago so it may be a little while before I get some friends together to share this with. I would love to drink this vicariously through someone else to settle my anticipation slightly.

IF I was to be specific, I'd say yea, that's exactly the one.

Are you planning to stop by? If so, would you be open to helping me out?

Real talk: it tastes EXACTLY like BCBS.

I thought it had a lot more in common with 50/50 Eclipse EC20. Medium mouthfeel, slick and oily. Flavors well integrated with roasty vanilla notes. None of the thick molasses chewiness you get with BCBS. Not nearly the head or retention you get with BCBS. Also it's 10% compared to 13-15% for BCBS where EC20 is 9.5% ABV.

So yeah, just save yourself some time and grab a 50/50 EC12 from Beinnys and it's 95% the same beer. Vav will hook it up.

Well I guess that's a good thing, Bcbs is my favorite bourbon barrel stout. This one tastes rarer though right? Right???

It will feel rarer, totally. Mostly around the wallet.
