American Pale Lager or American Pale Wheat Ale.

It's actually the light lager if market shares are any indication.

I would say that back in black, hop crisis and their ipa are anything but bland/inoffensive. perhaps hell or high watermellon.

I did. I'm sure Bud Light still sells more than Budweiser.

That's why I've shifted my focus beers when trying to get a friend introduced to the world of craft. I used to go with pale ales or hefes in order to try and expose people. Sometimes stouts or porters if I knew they were big coffee fans.

But now my go to is always Weihenstephaner Original. I've only recently rediscovered the joys of a well made munich helles myself. Its crisp and refreshing and yet packed full or some serious flavor. I find if you pour someone a blind tasting of that side by side with any crappy adjunct lager, they will be amazed at what they're missing out on. It will spark the interest.

But we don't have a single American brewer that makes a really quality and widely available helles. I hope someone fills that void soon.

Good stuff right there. Craft is craft is craft imo. German, British, Belgian, or American. As long as it is quality beer then its all good imo. Weihenstephaner is as good as choice as any to introduce someone to craft. Cheers to your efforts and apparent success!

Did you ever see people drink Zima with a Jolly Rancher at the bottom? So gross.

here i am chiming in on anti-fat tire sentiment again...... i saw the cans and was tempted. only 5.99.

but then i punched myself in the face and came to my senses..... ok ok. times are tough, if it was 3.99 i'm in.

So your opinion is that amber ales in the flavor of Fat Tire isn't good? Not a bad point but I think a lot of people find Fat Tire flavorful, even seasoned BAs. I know I do. It isn't my favorite beer but it definitely has flavor, is drinkable, widely available, and cheap as all get out.

sorry to intrude. but that being said, it IS 5.99 for crissakes, it's not like it's free! NOW.... if it was free, then we should discuss its merits.

to the point. AMERICA'S STYLE is LIGHT/LITE, tasteless and cheap as all get out. 30 for 19.99 or less.

the next trend? obviously, VITAMIN BEER! that's right, it tastes like sparkling water on toast, has almost no CALORIES and comes with 50% of your daily vitamin c and b requirements!

up next? protein supplement beer. 2013.

Almost certainly in volume terms it will be pale ale of modest strength. It's easiest and cheapest to brew and the weaker it is the more of it people can drink at a sitting.

It's not a very good beer. It's a decent approachable beer.
