Couple pints of Middle Ages "X" DIPA (very nice beer, always a pleasure), and then I shared a 2011 bottle of La Folie. First time drinking it, and it was pretty alright.

Considering the 2011 La Folie is during the pasteurized era of La Folie vintages, I'm guessing this didn't really count as the real deal, so to speak. It was good, but not as good as I was anticipating—not horribly complex and relatively tame, in my opinion. Maybe my 2011 Brutes will deliver the goods . . .

The 18th anniversary is not too bad at all. Not overly hoppy and hides the alcohol very well. It's a oak aged double version of their pale ale so if you are looking for a hop bomb you will be dissapointed, but if you appreciate it for the beer that it is, it's quite enjoyable. Really am enjoying the caramel note and slight hop bite near the end. I placed the bomber outside of the fridge for 10 minutes before the first pour and it was still too cold then. But my second pour was just a tad above room temp and the beer is really shining now. Kinda like the way a english barleywine really impresses as it approaches room temp. If you really want to try it,once I get around to building a trebuchet I'll launch one across the state line for you.

Boggles the mind doesn't it? Seeing Bale float from his winger spot to the middle drives me mad! Friedel was shaky today but he's been solid for the most part. The only thing I can think of is the players being unsettled by the thought that Harry might leave for the England job...still though, this latest run of form has been HORRIFIC! Oh well, at least this Old Guardian in my glass isn't letting me down! How was the classico?

Tonight its been Ayinger Brau Weisse, Surly Furious, 2011 Great Lakes Blackout Stout, and a last Founders Breakfast Stout I found in the cellar. Listening to various vinyl I got on Record Store Day.

One of the best matches I've watched this season. I won't disclose the result, but well worth watching the replay on Deportes or espn3.com . Better than the first one or the Copa del Rey match. Hoping they meet again in the Champions League final although Chelsea since AVB got sacked have been fun to watch.

The gusher to end all gushers. Fricking fantastic though, tons of citrus zest going on. You could just see the carbonation generating off the bottom of the bottle. Those yeast were going insane. 2010 bottling

Had a few Triangle Brewing IPA and Belgian Whites followed by a Hoptimum. But now I'm on a green tea binge to finish the night, for I am exhausted and wish to be hydrated. Cheers to all!

Sounds tasty. Is this is a particularly good candidate to age? Selling them near my place for $12.99 I think, but being kinda poor it's hard to bite at that price point.

Funneling dragon pearl tea, I hope? :-) Not a big tea drinker but Southern Season's got an awesome selection. How was the Hoptimum?

All of Jolly Pumpkins beers age gracefully. In fact, I prefer most of the lineup with a least a year on it.

Hmm, that is good to know. How's $12.99 for Oro de Calabaza, in terms of pricing, any idea? Pretty new to the area so I don't have a great feel for what's typical in terms of JP pricing.

That is a spot on price, and you aren't getting ripped off at all. Most of JP's big beers are 12-14 bucks and the small ones(bam biere etc) are usually 9-10 bucks.

Had to delay the torpedo, forgot to put it in the fridge, now on ice. Going with Oklahoma's own Choc Spring IPA. Liked last years, I wish it was as hoppy tasting as its initial nose...

Shit, man. Well, I think I'll pick one up sometime soon. Bam Biere's the cheapest around here ($11.99), and only 750s are available for anything we get of theirs. "Farmhouse" is such a beautiful word to me, so full of potential.

It was oddly cool here today, so I started with Founders Breakfast Stout (thanks Adamdd). Then moved on to a Dogfish Head Immort ale, wasn't much of a fan. Then Dogfish Head 90 minute, which is Awesome. Has been a decent day. Other than the enormous amount of homework and projects due next week, today was a good day.

Every single beer they make is aged in oak barrels which have wild yeast present. All of them have a distict funk, and some of them are lightly tart. Only a select few are truly sours, but I really have never been disappointed by anything that has come out of their barrels.
