Einhorn seems to sell like gangbusters, but yeah... Festina Peche is usually a turd.

My personal theory is that you'd need to price a packaged Berliner at 9.99/6-pack or less to make it a hit. Lots of people DO buy on and ABV to Price comparison, in my experience. I think $7.99/4-pack would also be permissible, but only for a locally brewed beer.

I can't answer the second half of your post but I go through about a 4 pack of Festina each week.

Did this ever make it to Houston? I have yet to see any.

Regular and broad availability at bars creates word of mouth that pushes retail demand. Marketing doesn't hurt either. The Full Sail is limited to relatively few stores and I've never seen it on draft. On top of that it's Full Sail, which means there's going to be damn little brand recognition or loyalty moving product off the shelves.
Price has a role to play as well. Again, I would point to Einhorn. It was well priced and created the kind of buzz/feeding frenzy which could easily support a label in the broader market.
Seriously, do you believe the "elite few beer nerds" are solely responsible for the incredibly wide and continually growing range of styles we have to choose from these days?

The problem with that price point is that they are really difficult to brew well. Oh and the fact that they can infect your brewery or end up like smelling like baby puke if done incorrectly.

Show me a place with a Berliner at that price point and you'll know where all of my money has gone.

Everything you're saying about the Full Sail Berliner could be true, and it would still be the case that Texas has not exhausted its current supply of good Berliner weiss.

SO? Have you got a point there, or are you just serving up a snark sandwich heavy on the nit-pick?

I just picked up a couple Full Sail Berliner's at Specs Downtown today, $3.99 a bomber I think was the cash price. I'm gonna try one later tonight, but that seems like one of the better price points I've seen pending, ya know, if it's good

Let me know. I haven't seen it anywhere and I've been meaning to try it.

I liked it, it's not the best example I've had, but its one of my favorite styles when it's hot out. I'll buy it again most likely

It was here a while ago (I think I had it maybe 2 months ago or more) but haven't seen it lately (haven't looked either). So I'm pretty much no help.......

It's at Spec's downtown. Had a bottle the other day, enjoyed it and planning on getting a few more.

The HEB I shop at had it, and for $4 a bottle I decided to try it, but honestly it is NOTHING like Einhorn. I wouldn't waste your money. I drain poured it after my first glass.

I picked one up at Central Market Westgate this past Monday. Looked like there were still a few left in the cooler.
