September's a rough time of year for a teacher to make a mid-week road trip. That's why I'm thankful for that student teacher I got coming next week .

Bah. I'll be there Oct. 15-18. Hopefully Being and Time, CD#7, or Port Damon will come out that week.

They've been recently establishing limits on site after seeing the opening lines.

Glad I already had reservations booked well before this announcement. My wife will be super thrilled to learn that she will be standing in line Thursday morning.

What time do people show up for these sorts of HF releases? I haven't been to one yet and I think this might be the first time I can get up there.

You should get there around 4pm.

I can't tell if you're serious, but that's actually a solid plan. For the madness and cd6 release I got there at like 12:45, and ended up waiting in line for an hour. But once I was through I notice that there wasn't much if any of a line anymore. If you'd come after 2pm you wouldn't have needed to wait at all (at least for the release bottles, the growler line was probably a few hours long at that point). For the PoS/GoM release I rolled up at 3:45 and there was no line for bottles at all. Grabbed my allotment and waited about an hour in the growler line.

I know some people are going to show up several hours early no matter what, but unless double barrel Damon has a super low bottle count, I don't think you need to get there early at all to ensure you get bottles. At least that has been my experience.

Normally I would definitely agree, but with everyone having time to plan a trip, this one is gonna be packed.

I knew some dingus would chime in with "8 pm, dog". Let me rephrase- When does a line typically begin to form at these sorts of HF releases?

I'll just show up at 3 AM and hope for the best.

I really seriously doubt 3 am in necessary. I cannot imagine a line forming before 8am. The line for Ann started when? 9:30?

I would guess most people are coming from 3-5 hours away so 8 am would be quite a feet. If I had to put money down I'd say ~30 people in line at 8am, ~50 in line by 8:45am, ~100 by 9:00 am, ~200 by 9:30, ~275 by 10am, ~400 by 11am

If I go I'm gonna shoot to get there around 10:00am. Any earlier and I may as well not go to bed before the drive up.

Whatever time you go you're still waiting. Going at 8 is still 3 hours in line even if nobody is ahead of you

Pretty amazing to see the intense desire to get these beers being time is our greatest commodity ... to each their own.

FWIW this thread will be locked out when this latest bottle release is over. New ones should be started for each new release.
