Is it possible to make it from Boston to HF and back in about 8 hours? I'm flying in next Wednesday at 11am and need to be back to Logan by roughly 7:30pm. Do I have enough time to make it up to HF for a few growlers and back?

You're looking at an easy 3.5 hrs each way. Factor in an hour to deplane and get rental car, hour for fills and then a half hour to get the rental back and it's around 10 hours.

I'm not flying out that evening, I just need to be back to the airport to pick up a coworker. This is just my only window while I'm in the area.

does the coworker like craft beer? maybe they want to chill at the airport for awhile in exchange for a growler of S&S4 (or abner, or citra single hop...)?

As previously mentioned, you have 7 hours of driving...plus probably an hour of dealing with the airport and rental cars...that leaves you mayb
30 minutes at HF? Tough call...

I don't think so - that'll be really tight. I was going to say a trip to Jack's Abby would be a good substitute but they are closed Wed. Trillium is right across the water from Logan and starts doing growler fills (only) at 4:00. Good stuff there for sure.

Its possible, but I cant recommend it. I've done the round trip to The Alchemist from Marshfield, Ma and its grueling.

I drove home from Hill Farmstead yesterday at about 130 and got home (Marshfield, Ma) at close to 6. The Boston rush hour traffic adds about an extra hour.

I only got 6 fills and I was at there for about 90 minutes. The 3 fill limit means you have to go through the line twice.

Can you change your departing airport to Burlington or get a later flight out of Boston?

I'm not flying out of Boston on Wednesday. I'm in town for work from Wednesday through Friday. I don't have anything I need to do on Wednesday, other than answer my phone, except pick up a coworker from the airport at 7:20pm (probably wouldn't need to be their until 8pm).

I just wanted to know if it was possible. I regularly make crazy drives for minimal payoff when I'm close to something I may not get a chance to see for a while.

Give your co-worker some cab money and share your HF treasure trove with him/her as added compensation

Not sure who you have as a carrier but cell service is spotty up there in the middle of nowhere. Making it back mostly depends on the line at HF nowadays.

Yeah that. Driving to Logan is the worst way to get/leave there. Have them take the Silver Line for free into downtown and you'll avoid traffic and tolls. Or just use the day to go to Cambridge Brewing Company and Trillium.

You could definitely do Portsmouth Brewery, Smuttynose (depending on schedule) and Allagash. A decent consolation.

If your coworker is cool with the beer thing, they'd probably be willing to take a cab/shuttle for the team. If they can't expense it, then just offer to comp them.

If your coworker isn't cool with the beer thing, then don't mention the trip and make up some cockamamie story about why you can't make it in time to pick them up.

Either that or, you know, just drink at one of the other bazillion much closer places in NE.

my advice is to spend that 7 hours doing something cool in Boston. you're on expenses too, right? go to L'espalier and have a sick lunch, that'll take 3 hours and is sweet way to spend a rando afternoon

8 hour round trip to buy some beer just isn't living imo.

"just saying," http://cambridgebrewing.com/beer/seasonal/ ... arquebus is perfect this year, and ship of fools is excellent.

if you need pale ales, boston can't hang with VT. however, you're not coming back from HF with any barrel aged barleywine or oaky flanders reds.

The 3.5 hrs each way doesn't include traffic and having to pass through the Manchester-Boston corridor at that time of day, even against the majority of traffic, will probably take 30-50 minutes longer than usual.

Could you fly into Burlington and drop the rental car at Logan?
