I'm looking forward to this 2X Rye, since I love ST and rye beers in general. I have not had the 2X Steam, but absolutely loved 2XMas this past winter. 2XIPA and 2XStout are also two of my go-to beers for their respective styles and the price point.

this makes a lot of people on BA unhappy for some reason, but i'm 99% sure that

    1) you're not imagining it, and

    2) it just has to do with freshness.

the keg you're drinking from probably just arrived at the bar (and sells quickly). the bottles you've had were like 6 months old.

re: 2x rye, it's unlikely i'll try it, but i was pretty happy with 2x stout (great value). 2x IPA too, though i got tired of it quickly (p.s. fresh 2x IPA is a good "never had pliny? it sort of tastes like this," or at least it did when they first released it).

2x steam i'd kind of like to try, but no offense southern tier, you're not the brewery i'm turning to for "subtly crafted lager / steam beer." ST more sweet tooth, over the top kind of thing.

And Hop Sun is my favorite "summer seasonal" (Blonde Ale,
American Pale Wheat Ale)...go figure lol

I am not a huge rye beer fan but I'll give this a shot. Southern Tier has been killing it lately - Live and Eurotrash Pilz are awesome beers.

As is the nature of beer my friend: very, very subjective. and apparently also ironic :stuck_out_tongue:

either way we can both agree on one thing: that we hope that this one ends up being good.
After all, who wants a brewery to churn out a BAD beer :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks excellent. That is a good time for it. The Autumn beers don't do much for me anymore. Something hoppy that isn't a strait forward IPA is perfect.

"Liked" for quoting my typo from three and a half months ago. Good eye!

PS- I hate them all still, but I have not tried 2Xrye, 2Xsteam either so I can't include them. I hate the mall as well.

I thought it was pretty solid.. it was more sweet and not as spicy.. but it's definitely one of the best out of the 2X series, which I personally have felt underwhelmed by, besides 2XIPA..

Will definitely be trying it. I love everything from ST except for Creme Brulee (and Pumking by default).

Hating 2XIPA is un-American. That beer is great. I'm not a big fan of the rest of the series (such as it is), but I am tempted to try the 2XRye.

    I passed at $13 a six. The 2xIPA is $9 and 2x stout is $8-9

    Enjoy

Not sure if you've tried it but Boulevard's Rye on Rye is another Rye Whiskey Barrel aged Rye Beer that is stellar.

Sounds like you would like Southern Tier's OTHER fall seasonal, Harvest.

It is right up there with Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger, which is saying a lot. Terrific stuff.
