    Hi all,

    I'm trying to get a head start on some holiday shopping. One particular family member collects labels/packages/etc from "astronomically named" products, and is also a beer appreciator. So I want to get a nice eclectic combination of bottled beers (ideally bombers) that both fit the theme and are worth drinking.

    Have you had any beer that you especially liked that have "astronomical" names? Examples:

    * Blue Moon (duh)
    * Alpha Centauri Binary IPA (Hop Valley, Eugene, OR) - one of my favorite DIPAs. They also have a seasonal "Proxima Centauri" but I've never had it.
    * Dubhe Imperial Black IPA (Uinta, Salt Lake City) - a nice black IPA. (Dubhe is apparently a traditional name for the brightest star in the Big Dipper)

    What else would you add?

    Mikkeller/To Ol Betelgueuze. If you like being fucked on the price. Think I stupidly paid $18 for a bottle. Probably the worst beer decision I've ever made.

    I heard there was a place opening up in Prescott, AZ called "Black Hole."

    I really hope that's an astronomy reference anyway.

    I just did a search under the Beers tab using the word 'Orion' and came up with a list of 22 items, although only 6 appear to be a beer with that name that is not retired or is a brewery's name. I suggest doing a similar search with any 'spacy' name that you can think of and see what you get that is available to you in your locality.

    Awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for.
    The recipient lives in Seattle, so anything generally within range of Puget Sound is a plus. I've tried a fair amount of Elysian's stuff but hadn't seen/tried Space Dust Before -- that will definitely go in the package now.

    There's also that Yates & Jackson Star Bitter stuff that comes in those big plastic bottles. For some reason I've never tried it...

    May I shamelessly suggest "Cosmos: Export Stout" my Carl Sagan inspired beer for stargazing?
