Any Backwoods Bastard comparables available in NE?

I was really impressed by Smuttynose Brewing's Red Wine barrel-aged Scotch Ale that they released last fall/winter! I was so happy when they added it once again to their beer schedule this year! It should start showing up in October. My favorite behind the BWB.

 

Wulver was released earlier this summer and it is excellent. I love BB but Wulver edges it out IMO. It's still around in some places in Ohio I grabbed a 4 pack a couple weeks ago while driving through Ohio.

 

NEBCO wet willy, though you may wamt to spike it basil haydens if you want BBA style flavor.

Not the same style of beer but I thought Firestone Walker Double DBA had a very similar flavor profile to Backwoods Bastard. Buy a bottle and have it around 50-55 degrees and you won't be disappointed. You should still be able to find some around.

 

addendum to seconding this recommendation:

Last years DDBA wasnt great. Boozy and not very flavorful. This years is fantastic; little bit of bready malt and a ton of oak, just as promised. If you were disappointed last year, maybe roll the dice again.

I purchased a bottle of Wulver in Kittery, ME about a week ago. It's around. Not sure if Thirsty Dog is distro'ed in MA though

 

What's a 4pk of Wulver go for?

 

I saw some 2012 bw bastard on the shelf two weeks ago way up in Maine near mdi. Picked up a four pack myself. That would do the trick if you have a reason to get up there

 

Where is Kittery? How much was there?

 

I got a bottle at the gas station at the Kittery circle, with a couple bottles still on the shelf. They also had several bottles at Carl's Meat Market.

 

Where can I get bw bastard in Boston area?

 

I don't think its released until November.
