I'm sure if they're not directly going to the brewery, they're probably paying upwards of $6 a can to their supplier so he can make some money too.

Uncle Barry had HT about this time last year, think it was $12 a can. Worth it.

Was also at St. Gambrinus a few weeks back before closing and one of the owners (Ray) pulled out a few cans to share between the 6 or so people in the bar.

Double Dose is in NYC, supposedly the closest thing to HT. I'll let you know once mine chill :sunglasses:

Double Dose is excellent ! Not sure how it compares to HT, tastes more like Peekskill Higher Standard to me.

    Enjoy!

HT is good, but not $12 a can good.

Factor in gas from NYC, at $80 a case with 2 tanks of gas. You can get 3 cases of heady for $4.50 a can with a little bit of a drive. Or just trade for a 4 pack with anyone and it'll come to much less.

For me it was worth spending $12 a can to try what is considered one of the best brews in the world. Would I pay $12 a can now that I have tried it? Depends what was on tap/in the cooler.

I love how some folks in this thread are pointing to the places selling grey market beers. Anyone wanna give the addresses out of their bookies too?

sometimes you'd rather spend 10 minutes and $12 than $80 for a case and 12 hours.

HT can be had for much less...in fact, free if you've never had it before. Torst being one of those bars that doesn't advertise their inventory and hands out freebie cans to unsuspecting craft beer fans. I believe the Jeffrey does that as well.

Eagle Provisions is high on my list of highway robbery for limited release beer. I think they had bottles of KBS during it's release for $15 a pop.

Bierkraft - where do I begin. Yes, their food is good and appropriately priced if you live in Manhattan. I can't speak to their growler prices because I haven't purchased one. But when you sell Parabola for $24 when the rest of NYC had it for $18-19 and Captain Lawrence's Rosso e Marrone for $24 when other stores had it for $15-16 was downright disgusting. On top of the fact they had it on the shelf when it was easily 78 degrees in the store because of the heat being thrown off from the refrigerator cases.

Agreed about Eagle - that place is the pits.

I believe Bierkraft's pricing is a reflection of the fact that they also have a pouring permit, and that you can drink what you buy in the store. That, and they are likely paying ridiculous rent on hot 5th Avenue property. If you go there to stock your cellar, you're right that you'll spend an arm and a leg. If you go there to drink what you buy on their patio or while having a sandwich, you'll likely be spending less than at any other bar in Brooklyn and drinking in a lovely place to have a beer. Their growler prices are quite good.

Anyone see fresh HT in Brooklyn lately?
My friend got his hand on a fresh bottle of Pliny and I'd really like to try em side by side.

Does anyone know how old those cans are at Eagle?

Hello, I am from Chicago and I am going to be in NYC over Thanksgiving week. I would have thought it would be easier to find HT in the NE than here but it appears to be similar. Does anyone have any they would want to sell?
