Apparently this released at the brewery/Bruery today. I'm not sure of the style, but it was brewed with gooseberries. These beers are more miss than hit, so hopefully this one steps it up a notch.

Haven't had it but a buddy was there last night. Said it "needed time" And "Tasted mostly like boose at this point."

Hmm. That sounds like all of the other Christmas beers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I really liked 5 Golden Rings, which from what I've read/heard was pretty meh.

5 Golden Rings is still a shelf turd in my neck of the woods, and I pretty much enjoyed that one. I'll try this one as long as it's not $20 damn bucks.

Well i think 4 Calling Birds was super great fresh right outta the box. Super spicy like a glass of liquid gingerbread.

kind of went downhill after 2TD for me... but i loved 2TD. that beer needs to be rebrewed.

p.s. i'll buy it if i see it, maybe. honestly, i love the bruery. wish they did smaller format bottles.

Belgian Strong Dark Ale. It sounds more promising than 5 Golden Rings, which I would put around 85/100.

I ended up not buying 5 Golden Rings last year after all the negative feedback. This sounds pretty interesting though. Maybe I'll buy one to drink on Christmas eve

Had it draft on Sunday. Solid, good fruitiness without being cloying or too phenolic. Then again, pretty much anything could be less phenolic than 5GR...

Five Golden Rings was okay. I'd be interested in giving this one a go.

5 Golden Showers was pretty bad. Just bought it to have the collection period. If you ask me it's a total drain pour. To me The Bruery is just brewing beer just to make money and slap a label. I've been an RS me,beer for a couple of years. Not all their beers are bad. Oude Tart w/Cherries was off the chain. At the end of the day it's business let make cash etc they better get there act together and focus on quality not quantity.

Is 5 Golden Showers the adult version of 5 Golden Rings?

Maybe now when people claim they can taste gooseberry flavors in their sour/saison/New Zealand-hopped beers they won't be lying.

I had the 5 on tap & did not like it all that much fresh. Bought a bottle anyway to keep the vertical going. Hoping it improves with time. Will buy a 6 for same reason. What the Hell. It's only money.
