Why is that? I am not agreeing or disagreeing just more curious why you think that.

Pretty much any stout gets better with a nitro-tap

Typically storage, and oxidation due to the hops. If sitting on a warm shelf it's bad. Most kegs don't see a warm atmosphere.

    Pale ales and IPAs!

Their are their best out of cask in my opinion!

I have had my share of bad IPA's on tap too though. Kegs normally go quicker. Fresher the better.

Boy, I really would like to believe that. I have had too many sub-optimum Sculpin and Pliny the Elder beers on tap to subscribe to that thinking.

    Needless to say but YMMV.

    Cheers!

After I posted my message I did see your next post. You stated: “Kegs normally go quicker.” It is indeed true that once a beer is tapped it generally goes quickly (it depends on the clientele in the bar). The fundamental issue though it how fresh was the keg (sixtel) when it went on tap? How was that keg (sixtel) handled throughout the entire distribution system? I have had too many IPAs on draft where the beer has tasted like it was too old and/or mishandled in shipment.

    Cheers!

SA Summer Ale, I enjoy it on tap very much. Bottles to me taste way off. I don't buy it in bottles but I rarely pass it up on draft.

Sculpin is not a good benchmark for this topic.

The first time I had Rising Tide Daymark it was on draft. The fruity flavors were nuanced, it had a nice smooth body, overall delicious. A couple days later I tried it from the bottle only to be completely let down. All the nuance from the draft version was absent, and the body even seemed a little different. Certainly not as enjoyable. I recently had FBS from the bottle after trying it first on draft a few months back. From the bottle I thought it was definitely solid, but again, the draft version just had more nuance. Come to think of it, that was also the same case with Jack's Abby Barrel Aged Framinghammer. Has this happened to anyone else as much as with me???

I'm my opinion, I prefer most beers on tap vs bottle. When given the option I will choose tap every time.

I have never had PtE in the bottle. I have had it many times on draft. The majority of the time (e.g., > 50%) it is great. The last time I had PtE on draft there was zero aroma (and I do mean zero!); the only aspect of the beer that was a resemblance of PtE was the bitterness. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this keg (sixtel) of PtE was either old or abused. I have had PtE on draft that has been sub-optimum more than once.

The 'bottom line' is that having a hoppy beer on draft is no guarantee that the beer is 'good' (not fresh and/or abused).

    Cheers!

    P.S. Again, YMMV!

Could be unkempt lines, old date, etc...any number of reasons, as you know. Most of the times I've had it has been at Falling Rock in Denver where I know it's fresh because they go through it like candy. But yeah, fresh PtE on tap FTW!

I usually like beers bottled better than on tap..i just cant trust that the place serving the beer takes proper care of the lines and the c02 and it gets in my head and ruins the experience for me most of the time lol..however there is a local beer that is brewed by blue point brewery that tastes amazing on tap..like toasted marshmallows...and when i have it in a bottle it tastes like the average BMC lager..so strange so i guess it really does depend on the brew

Cask blows bottles out of the water. It costs about double over here and I'm happy to pay for it.
