Got in line about 7am. Met some really cool people in line. Drank Chocolate Rain and some '09 Cantillon (first time for both) among other amazing beers plus maple bacon donuts from Dinkel's. Six out of the seven of us got to buy a BA Dark Lord. Got my official DLD T-Shirt, a BA Cherry Klaus and met some cool generous BA's from MI at a picnic table. Had a great time felt everything ran smoothly.

Mad props to Oreo! The guy was just handing out pours of Black Tuesday to anyone close to him!

I had a great time, and everywhere I looked people seemed to be having a good time!
We showed up at about 3pm and there was plenty of parking, the entrance was littered with passed out and/or vomiting people, I was excited enough about being at my first DLD to perceive this as fitting scenery.
We Immediately got into the brewpub line that was a Cluster-F but it moved and people in line were very cool and were sharing some good stuff, my friends left the line because it was taking too long but I stuck it out and finally got in the pub. I was a bit disappointed that there was NO vanilla or barrel aged DarkLord being served, but the regular Darklord, Barrel aged black sun and Barrel Aged Ice-Grill were worth the wait.
By that time the Group C line was beginning to thin out a bit, I took a BA Ice grill to go and got in line and went through pretty quickly. I even "won" the chance to buy a BA Darklord, and went with the Cognac Muerte. The line exited into the pub where the band was rocking out, so I watched for a while. I left and went and ate the largest beef brisket sandwich that I have ever seen, it was delicious. After, I hooked back up with my friends to drop the beer off in the car. Two of them won BA darklords as well, they got a bourbon and a cognac.
When we came back people were freaking out because a tent was tapping Cherry Bourbon county, CBS and KBS, I had the cherry and KBS, and I also tried the Pizza Port Boubonic Chronic which I was equally impressed with. After this the night becomes a blur, but I do remember a lot laughing at a lot of bad dancing commencing in the brewery. Shortly after the staff began asking everyone to leave and that's that, we left and I was sleeping like a baby by 11pm.

Overall I think that the staff did an excellent job of managing 6000 mostly drunk people, everyone I met at the event was over the top friendly and very generous. I don't think that this event is for everyone, but for me it was the best beer event I have ever been apart of, and I am looking forward to doing it again next year!

    Thanks to Three Floyd's!

Other notes to add: While walking through the line, we happened to pick up an unopened bottle of Founders Breakfast Stout (I drove to three liquor stores around the Region, all were out), and Heady Topper (not distributed outside the east coast!). There was an almost full growler of something, but it may have been urine, so we passed grabbing that  I traded two B tickets for a bottle of CBS and BA Plead the Fifth (thank you Ryan!), and the hubs traded a DL for a 2011 Darkness. Our group of four had two scratch off winners, and we grabbed two bottles of BBA Vanilla DL. Such a great day!!

I try to go each year, because of the fun trading, sampling and great beer-people. Yeah, I know there are people who muck it up a bit, but I just pass them by and work towards shring stuuff I brought (Rare Bourbon county Stout, CBS, and KBS. We had a core group of friends in attendence, but when you pour Rare, you get a lotta friends !
This was a good thing, though, originally another guy was gonna bring Hunaphu's to taste with our pours, never showed, so later while waiting in the pub line I saw they put the Huna on the sign and was bummed, could'nt get out of line now, too close to the front. So 3 of the guys I gave Rare pours to see me in line and come up and FILL my snifter with Huna - it goes to show that good deeds get rewarded by GREAT beer buds! So then I ship the glass back in line to my son-in-law, so he, too, gets a taste.
Then when I am almost in the pub, Tom, another GREAT beer bud, comes up to mee with the last of the Vanilla BA Dark Lord off of the draft, nice. So many awesome people sharing so many awesome beers.

I took away a cherry Alpha Claus, 8 Dark Lord '12, Bourbon Barrel Vanilla DL, Bourbon Barrel DL, and 4 awesome trades, picking up Sexual Chocolate, Black Ops, Hunaphu's '12, Marshal Zhukov, Imperial Stout Trooper,Parabola,Black Tuesday,Night Stalker, Star Hill Cryptical, and 6 BA Schwartz beer from Flossmoor.

Had a great time, Fitz - if you read this - looking forward to the June 16 bottle share in Chicago !!!

    CHEERS to all who I came in contact at DLD ! ! :}

Rolled up at about noon and had a great, super mellow day. Found a spot to set up shop inside the gates and just hung out sharing some great beers. Maybe there was some frat ridiculousness but I didn't see it and our group had a great time.

Had a blast...it was my first DLD ever. Met some great people and tried many beers I never thought I would.

Definitely was pretty tipsy by the end of my time there and in rare form...heh.

    Fun had by all!

First time at DLD. Thought it was awesome. Stayed at the Hampton, great bottle sharing. DLD was great. Yes, there were long lines. Yes, it was colder than I would have preferred. Yes, there were a few drunk fools, but seriously, 6000 people drinking all day - you have to be a little tolerant of that and expect that stuff to happen. Great times, anyone who says differently should stay home next year and let others go in their place.

It reminds me of the saying - "If you think the music is too loud - you are too old"!!!!

What a great day overall. Got there at about 8:15 local time. Parking was scarce but we found a spot in a lot within the complex. It was about a 10 minute walk to the line. Setup shop and started some conversations with the folks around us so we could walk around and meet up with friends. Walked to the front of the line where I traded with dontcounttoday - thanks for the trade and the pours! - and ran into some friends from my home town who said they got in a little after 4am and were within the first 20 people or so. Walked back towards the end of the line and met up with friends and had some more pours and got another trade in with funhog - thanks to you as well - Got back to my spot in line and chummed it up with the folks around. There were many great pours happening in our section of line, where I opened several bottles and made some friends.

My favorite moment of the day was when one of the guys in our line group sat his backpack down hard, with a loud clang of bottles. The hundred people or so within ear shot, we were at a point where the line doubled back so there were a lot of people who could hear it, all went silent and trained directly on him. He dug around his backpack for a few seconds, taking stock of the damage and pulled a wedge of cheese out while proclaiming, "the cheese is OK!," to a loud round of applause and laughter. His bottles were fine too but the cheese comment was hilarious in the moment.

Once inside, we went straight to the DL line. One of the fellas from our line group bought a round of ZD at the stand halfway down the beer line. This was the start of the end of my day. I got my allotment, including a vanilla, and headed out to a tasting table setup by my friends who were at the head of the line. Opened a few bottles there including BA Raspy, KBS, and a Ten Fiddy. No need to buy any pints but simply spent the next hour or so sharing. I eventually was persuaded to leave by my fiance at around 2pm. I have no complaints other than not knowing about the BA Klaus bottles.

It was pretty f'ing great, the best event I've been to, of any kind. My bro lives less than a mile from the brewery, yet somehow this was the first DLD for either of us. Had group A tix, arrived around 9:30a and joked around/shared bottles with some great folks. We were surprised at how slowly the line moved, in fact we didn't even get in until after noon, which was supposed to be the end of group A! But knowing we were guaranteed bottles, no one really cared. Watched some dudes play jenga with 2x4's. That was a first. Finally got in, made a quick trip to a porta potty, and got in line for the bottles. That line moved a lot faster. Sadly neither of us won the scratch-off which I had mixed feelings about. $50 for one bottle is pretty steep, though obviously it's worth it. In any event, got our bottles, went out to grab some lunch and met Jeremy from Louisville, great guy. He let us sit at a picnic table with his girl and a bunch of other people they met at Flossmoor, right by the line to pick up DL. Got to try so many amazing beers -- Hunahpu, Black Tuesday, Chocolate Rain, Sexual Chocolate, Cantillon Classic, Black note, Baller stout, Better Half, surely more I can't think of. The most my bro knew about craft beer was "bourbon county stout" so I told him just how fortunate we were to experience all of those awesome beers that you might not get to try under normal circumstances. I brought this year's bourbon county coffee and bramble rye, and I'm definitely a believer in beer karma now more than ever. Big shoutout to Rudi and Casey from Michigan, Scott, the west lakeview guys, a couple of local brewers, and anyone else I ran into. Hopefully I'm getting names right. Things got a little bizarre once the sun went down -- that's all I can say -- but everyone I met was in a great mood, having an amazing time, and I have absolutely no complaints aside from the hangover. BIG thanks to Nick and everyone else at FFF who made it possible.

We caught some assbag stealing our bottles and shoving them in his backpack. That guy can die. Other than that, we had a great time. We got a bunch of variants and had some great beers over the course of a couple of days.

Guy came up to me after we went through the DL line and the other bottle line (which took about an hour at that point) and he asked if I would trade my Baller Stout, which I just paid $30 for and it was listed on the sign for that price, even up for a DL. I politely declined, he then insisted then I take $15 and a DL, I again told him no because I had waited in line for an hour and needed some additional trade as he could wait if he really wanted it. He ended up getting kinda upset with me and stumbled off.

Your welcome for the canopy dude!! I talked to a lot of the ppl that were in front of us in line that thought I was yelling at them. Clearly, if u weren't cutting I wasn't yelling at u. Calling out the ppl that decided to jump line! I know ur ticket entitles u to everything that DLD has to offer so being first in line "doesn't really matter" but it does!! It's called principle man! I was sticking up for all the ppl that we're in line when it was cold and raining (this includes u and your group) and calling out assholes who were walking up 30 min before the gates opened. Cheers!!!
