Yeah the same thing happened to me. I would understand if I had been trying to haul several cases of Zombie Dust inside, but all I had was 8 bottles of Dark Lord and they made me leave them outside the door where they could have quite easily been stolen. Luckily they weren't, but it was entirely on the honor system. That's definitely something they should work out a system for for next year. I would propose that next time they have a guy at the door to guard the beer and who would ask for your I.D. when you drop it off, then label the beer you dropped off with your name, and then ask for I.D. again when you come to pick it up. That way there wouldn't be any mix-ups and it would keep just anybody coming out of the pub from grabbing stuff.

Honestly... that's not that bad, depending on the $ involved.

Also, I too was devastated by the DRose news. :slight_frown:

Montrose79 and I had a great time and brought a DLD noob along for the ride. He also had a great time and even won on his scratch off ticket. It was a great event and everyone was pretty relaxed that I was around. My only issue was the lack of "community" in the table area. Last year (I know, I know) with everyone "camped out" in the middle of the lot it made it much more "communal." You didn't know where one group ended and the next group started. This year the tables seemed to make it much more "territorial" with most groups sticking together. It also made impromptu trading much more difficult. Well that, and the fact that there were many people there that didn't know other craft beer and were unwilling to trade with people..... ;-)

Anyone else think this event has clearly gotten too big for one day? If you ask me they should just divide the people into two days...either friday and saturday or saturday and sunday. Half the people, half the chaos. They would also have to do some planning to make sure everything is available both days on equal quantities.

So looks like you guys all had fun. I get not all of you all are are hip to my metal jams, but come on ... not one god damn post about any of the sweet rock and roll that was flowing? High on Fire (Matt Pike tshirt joke here)? Eyehategod? Todd Huag's from Surly's badass metal band Powermad? Doomy metal supergroup Argonauts?

I am really ambivalent to this new era of wallet draining superbeerfest, but I got to hand it to FFF - they have a fantastic setup for music, and a great taste in bands. Slough Feg/Indians/rest of lineup last DLD was awesome. And Melvin's at anniversery party was out of sight (along with Municipal Waste and the rest of the bunch).

To be honest, the metal music was too loud for that acoustic environment. It just sounded like cymbal's crashing and over-distorted geetars. Would like to listen to their music in a different setting perhaps. Just not my cup of beer.

If the Bulls somehow make it past the heat, I'm cracking open one of those BADL's. If they don't, I'll probably crack open one of those BADL's.

At least you own it, but if you are truly sorry, you won't do it again and donate all DL to us. :sunglasses:

Not the most exciting story compared to some of you guys...
Got there at 9:00 and stood at the end of the 27.4 mile long line with my wife (bless her Designated Driving soul!). I think we finally got in the door around noon. While I was in different lines throughout the day I shared a growler of Bedlam (belgian IPA), and bottles of Central Waters BB Barleywine, a '10 Nemesis and an '07 Stone RIS. Someone shared some Bramble with me that hit the spot. Got a T-shirt along with a case of Zombie Dust and a couple Baller Stouts. Joined my wife in line for our Dark Lord and both won at the scratch offs and got 2 bottles of BA Vanilla along with our regular DL. Went to listen to some music but it was in between bands or something so not much was happening. Went back outside and got some hamburgers to eat, then checked out the guest taps. Had a couple of ok beers that I don't remember any more but got to try some Pizza Port Tarantulas (Black IPA I think) that went on tap just before I left that was pretty tasty. Was a tiny bit buzzed when my wife finally dragged my butt out of there and headed home. All in all, I had a great day. Met some nice people, got to try some nice beers, spent a lot of cash and came home happy.

I for one enjoyed the music a lot. All the bands were fantastic. It's the only reason I'll keep buying tickets to these 3F's events, and it was the only really enjoyable thing about the event. Standing in line for group B/C allotment was a nightmare. The line was 8 wide in many places and people kept cutting and funneling in, putting the bottle line at a crawl. Friends of mine who had A group tickets blazed through the line, so at least it went smoothly for some amount of time. I was excited to win a scratch off until I realized they were charging a criminal 50 bucks for the variants. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have 50 bucks worth of Zombie Dust or bud light than a DL with Vanilla added. I can add my own vanilla to my Dark Lords. I'll probably never buy another FFF's expensive event variant after the disaster that was XV anniversary Bigg's Stache, a bottle of barrel-aged vinegary pickle-juice.

Its not just vanilla, its a liquor barrel that they add vanilla to. They've proven to be quite good but I agree that 50 bucks is a little expensive. This year they're 750s instead of 500ml bottles so that makes the price a little easier to swallow. I bet a lot of people complained about last year's price and thats why it changed.

I saw jake after the ordeal and I can say that he was most depressed person I saw at dld back at the hotel.

Our amazing friend Logan got a glass of 1 of everything to go and was writing down the names of each beer on coasters so when he brought them outside to share with the lt of us in line (still like 50 people in front of us waiting For the pub) we would know what beer is which. Ass of a bartender INTENTIONALLY knocked all of the coasters off the beers and essentially told him (im paraphrasing): "what are you gonna do about it, I'm the bar tender bitch."

If I have said it once ive said it a thousand times. 90%!of the ppl who work at FFF are the biggest assholes on the planet and they treat you as though they are doing you a favor letting you buy their overpriced and not bottle dated beer.

I've met most of the bartenders, and have never had a bad experience with one of them. Much to the contrary. And the people who run the door and handle the tables are totally salt of the earth. You must always get someone after his dog died or something. You seriously sound like you've been going to bizarro world FFF.

Only been 3 times including dld so it's not like I'm an expert on how they treat ppl but last time we were there te waitress for annoyed at me for ordering over $100 in bombers. My group ordered 2 of some
Like Dreadnought to go and some in just ones, etc and she snapped at us asking why can't we order the same number of all. She was also unhappy we ordered our beers in waves (eg I'll have a dreadnought and Moloko pint versus one at a time). You'd think they were happy our drink and to go order was
    Just over $400 but nope.

Got there around 10am. Shuttle bus to and from the Marriot was awesome! Line moved quickly, drank some good beers. Traded someone 2 plastic cups for 2 pours of Black Tuesday immediately upon entering the line!

Had C tickets so we set up a base and left as we needed, always keeping a few ppl to watch over it. Drank quite a few guest taps and some Floyd's stuff too. Got my DL, no scratch off for me. Lucked into seeing a guy walking out of the case line with a BA Alpha Klaus so I grabbed one along with a Mutiny and the Mollusk and Rye Da Lightning. Ended up talking with the bassist from EyeHateGod for a while before I realized it was him. Picked my friends up off the floor and walked to catch our bus.

Here's where it takes a turn for the worse, I meet up with some guys waiting too and ask what they want me to open, Coffee BCS or King Henry, they say KH, so I grab a bottle opener and about 1 inch of the neck of the bottle breaks off with the cap. :slight_frown:
